I must Obey my Parents.
We started off by reading the Darul Kitab Learn About Series 'Our Parents'.(if you have not yet entered the Darul Kitab Give Away please do now here Insha Allaah) We have read this many times and Maimoonah has almost memorized the book. smile. We learnt the meaning of obeying and discussed about being dutiful to our parents and the favours they do to us. And memorized the Aayah in Soorah Al Isra along with the dua.
Little story activities were great masha Allaah. When I was reading each story she had a smile on her face which told me she knew the characters well smile! At the end of one story where it says that Umm had to call three times for the child to do something, I said I think I know someone just like this in this house, she was like with a blush, Its Maimoonah Ummi!! But masha Allaah this book did lot of good. May Allaah reward sis Umm An Nu'man. She keeps in mind most of the time that she needs to obey at the first instance. I hope this would continue Insha Allaah!
She enjoyed the colouring, cutting and pasting too as usual.
Then we got these mini books from here and here. Nice early reading books. Maimoonah is able to read these books on her own masha Allaah.
Then we spoke about the things her Abi and Ummi do for her. Then we took two sheets of papers. I asked her to draw small circles using the shape.
And asked her to name some of the things that her Abi and Ummi do for her. She thought and thought and said and I wrote them inside each circle.
We also read this book 'A Children's Book about Disobedience'. Its illustrations are nice and we spoke about disobedience and also explained to her that disobeying is a sin and we went through the book and spoke about the contents. She likes to talk about 'Annie' who falls into trouble by disobeying her parents in this book.
We also did Luqman's Advice. All those activities could be found here Insha Allah.
Asmaaul Husna
We learnt 'Ash Shaakir and Ash Shakoor'
Aqeedah
Continuing with the meaning of the shahaadah along with Usooluth Thalaathah. Insha Allaah we will start doing the Aqeedah Activities put out by sis Umm An Nu'man from next week.
Language, Reading and Writing.
We learnt some verbs and learnt to read them too.
She traced these..
Arabic
The Iqra book that I use for her reading deals with fatha first. Maimoonah is bored doing only fatha for such a long time and thus looses interest in reading. So I came up with this idea bi idhnillaah.
Pasted the post card on a book. She did the pasting and colouring. I wrote and taught her the three forms fatha, kasra and dhamma. She caught it soon. Then she read the Iqra book (the letters pasted and learnt). Now masha Allaah she is able to take some interest and read. Also she traces the letters on the other side of the page. We did alif and ba for this week.
Maths
We did Chapter 22 and 23 on MEP maths. Continuing with learning to count upto 6, visiting the Grand Parents, and introduction to addition. This chapter has an activity where you ask the child to draw a number of vertical lines, circles, horizontol lines, and etc etc. This is very good in my opinion that makes the child to concentrate and listen to you and draw accordingly. Maimoonah usually does well in this and likes this kind of learning. You can see her working here.
She did these worksheets too.
Ironing, Folding and Arranging the Cupboard
Maimoonah got a play iron from the Early Learning Centre and she was so thrilled about it. It makes the steam sound and has the light blinking too. So she wanted to iron all her clothes. I had to arrange her cupoboard as well as it was a long over due. So we took out all her clothes. Sorted them out and seperated the worn out ones. And taught her to iron her clothes.
Then we folded and arranged her cupboard.
That's it for week 11 Insha Allaah.
