Sewing Saturday - Blanket Stitch!

We learnt how to sew blanket stitch this Saturday. Actually I wanted to do a small project with Maimoonah  but I needed felt material and just could not find and my shopping for sewing stuff is still pending : )

So any way we just used the material we had (we also used a handkerchief) and practiced blanket stitch with the aid of  this. (background music, mute it Insha Allaah)

Then we made a small blanket as Maimoonah called it.

She stitched two sides and the rest I did.
This is Maimoonah's stitching

You can see both sides of the material after completion.

She used her fabric Paints and decorated the way she wanted to : )

Insha Allaah after we get hold of the stuff we need for small projects we will do them.

Assalaamu alaikum

I too look forward to these posts masha Allah. Blanket stitch is a great stitch on felt. Hope you get your resources soon insha Allah. Good on you for not letting it stop you though. I sometimes get caught in that trap of, oh no I can't do this because I don't have that...etc

Well done Maimoonah and Ummi :)

Alaikum salaam warahmathullaah Akhawaat, Jazzakillaah khayr for the motivation and encouraging words.

Amatullaah, I sincerely hope I would continue not do disappoint you all through out Insha Allaah with the Mercy of Allaah, but if I do please let me know as that would make me do things different and make it more productive Insha Allaah! Don't feel bad at all ok?!!

Umm Imaan, I come from a 3rd world country and getting these stuff there is like just a next door affair. But subhanallaah here, its so difficult to find and get to a place which will have these stuff. And we have to totally depend on our husbands to take us where ever as the public transport system is what shall I say, yet to reach the 3rd world countries standards. : ) But I hope these small but big issues would be rectified here and May Allaah bless this land always. Aameen!

Hey Umm Maimoonah it's hard to get some things? When your husband is free and your vehicle is up and moving are the stores nice? Do you find what you need?
I wanna send you and Maimoonnah some things- so try to catch you on skype :)

Alaikum salaam Umm Suhailah

Stores here are nice masha Allaah, mostly hyper markets and malls with all the branded shops. And you get all sorts of Food items as well.

Doha is a small place and all the things are just only there. But things like sewing stuff usually can be got in my country of origin in any place and you get shops only for that and we are familiar with these small shops,

But here too they have a market place like that but going there is an issue. If you could get a parking and get some time then you will find all what you need here too. Actually there is one huge stationery store here which has nice stuff mostly from China for cheap masha Allaah!

Hey Umm Suhailah, don't bother, Alhamdulillaah we can manage to try and get things. So sweet of you to offer and thought is appreciated and its like you have already given me : ) Jazzakillaah Khayr!
