Free Download - Inheritors of the Prophets

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets, for the Prophets did not leave behind Dinars and Dirhams, but they left behind knowledge; and whoever receives it, receives an abundance of good fortune.

 (Ahmad, Abu Dawud; authentic)

Alhamdulillaah we are pleased to share with you yet another free download from our Nurture Islaam Products. This time it's all about encouraging young and growing children to study and learn about the biographies of the Inheritor of the Prophet, our noble scholars.

Maashaa Allaah there are many authentic books on the biographies of the scholars available now in English. Invest in them and make it a tradition of your family to read and know them and know about their lives. Here are some titles available here

We have immense benefits and lessons to learn from their noble life and their stories become great inspiration and motivation especially for pre-teens and teenagers at this age and time, subhanallaah!

Even if you have given your children a good upbringing and a solid foundation of the dheen at early years, they are not free from falling into fitna. They need constant reminders, they need continuous encouragement, they need sincere guidance, they need endless inspiration and motivation. Reading and learning the lives of the scholars together as a family is one way to achieve this.

We know the pre-teen and the teenage age is not easy to deal with. It is tough, but Alhamdulillaah for Islaam. We just need to take that extra step and establish something. Stories touch the hearts, stories change the hearts, stories have a powerful impact on us, So why not use this tool of storytelling and story reading to cultivate our growing children. It helps the adults too. Don't we all need some boost every now and then to increase our weakening Eemaan?

We started our journey of learning about the scholars many years ago with Maimoonah, But we had to stop as I could not find enough authentics information or books at that time about the scholars and it took a lot of my time and effort to simplify and put together something for her.. Alhamdulillaah now we have access and we want to restart this journey. And inshaa Allaah we will be slowly producing the series on the biography of the scholars and make them available for purchasing at the Nurture Islaam Series little shop soon. Till then here is something for you to start.

Get some books on the biographies of the scholars or use this link and read with your children. Make time for reading and discussing just like you make time for coffee and tea. Relax and read little at time and when you complete the story of a scholar get your kids to use these free templates are fill them up. You can compile your own scrapbook or binder on the biographies of the scholars inshaa Allaah. It does not take even 30 minutes to fill it up. Reading and discussing mat=y take some time. But once done just make kids use their creativity in writing and crafting and fill it up. Serves as good writing practice and literacy enrichment too.

Here is an example of Maimoonah's completed template and mine!

Maimoonah's

I chose to write about the Muhaddith of this era Shaykh Naasirruddeen al Albaani raheemahullaah who changed my life and who captured my interest as a teenager through his precise writings and fiqh. I remember tears would not stop when the news reached me that day that he has returned to the mercy of Allaah, May Allaah have mercy upon him and grant him the highest position in Jannah and enable me to see him in the best place ever. Aameen.

Umm Maimoonah's

What are you waiting for! Shut down technology and rush to bond with family and spend time on cultivating your children. Few minutes a day can bring many years of lasting benefit! Inshaa Allaah!

Inheritors of the Prophets - Imaam Sufyaan At Thawree

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The next scholar we completed some time ago in our Inheritors of the Prophets series was Imaam Sufyaan at Thawree Raheemahullaah.

We used the following link to read about his biography

We learnt about his birth place and about his father who was also a scholar of Islaam. We read that he was a Mujtahid, Imaam of the Memorisers and the most noble scholar at his time who was well known for acting upon his knowledge.

We went through his teachers and his students and some of the wonderful saying of other scholars about him.

We read and re read some of his wise statements through which we understood that he was always seeking to learn hadeeth to the extent that people were asking him when will you stop seeking for hadeeth!

We learnt that he died of a stomach pain and in fact made wudoo 60 times that particular night before he died raheemahullaah.

The document we did for this could be downloaded here Inshaa Allaah.

Inheritors of the Prophets - Imaam Aboo Haneefah

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Continuing with our Knowing the Scholars  series we learnt about Imaam Aboo Haneefah Nu'maan bin Taabit Raheemahullaah.

We used the following links and read his biography.

We learnt that his real name was Nu'maan bin Taabit but he was better known by his kunya "Abu Haneefah". His father has met Ali bin Abi Taalib radhiyallhu anhu and he has made dua for his blessings and his offspring.

We learnt the names of his teachers and his students.

We also traced the map and marked the places of his birth, death, and the cities he has travelled to gain ilm.

We read and understood what the other scholars had to say about Imaam Abu Haneefah.

We also learnt that he was an Imaam of the Ahlus Sunnah who never called anyone to blind follow him rather he said:

"It is not permitted for anyone to accept our views if they do not know from where we got them.
In one narration, "It is prohibited for someone who does not know my evidence to give verdicts on the basis of my words."

We discussed the mistake he raheemahullaah made with regard to his saying "Actions of the limbs do not enter into Eemaan". This was a good opportunity to explain that Allaah forgives the scholars of the Ahlus Sunnah for mistakes and the other Ulama still hold him a scholar of the Ahlus Sunnaah but we do not blindly take this mistake even from a great scholar like Aboo Haneefah.

After we have done everything we got to know this incident in which Imaam Aboo Haneefah proves an atheist the existence of Allaah.

Imaam Abu Haneefah (d. 150H) once debated some atheists. He asked them: "What do you say about someone who tells you that he had seen a loaded ship without a captain and a crew amidst a strong storm, but sailing well towards a safe harbour [ thereby saving itself]? Do you intelligently accept this?" They said: "Our reasoning cannot accept this". Abu Haneefah then commented: "If your reasoning does not accept the story of a ship without a leading crew, then how do you accept a whole universe with all its varied conditions and complex nature running without a Creator in full charge?" So the atheists were dumbfounded and came to believe in Allaah.

We learnt that he refused to accept to be a judge at that time and he was jailed for it and died in the prison in the year 150 AH. May Allaah have Mercy upon him. Aameen.

Inheritors of the Prophets - Scrap Book - Umar bin Abdul Azeez

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

This is the knowing our scholars series of lessons that we hope to do through scrapbooking.

Main Resources we are using for this study are the following:

What we hope to cover for each scholar if these details are available Inshaa Allaah.

1. Name of the Scholar
2. Time Period
3. His Parents
4. Place of Birth - Map
5. Childhood - Tarbiyyah
6. Countries he travelled to seek ilm - Route on Map
7  His teachers
8. The books he Studied
9. Trials
10. The Books he authored
11. His Students
12. His Characteristics
13. Death and Place of death - Map

So this is the cover of the Scrapbook.

Explained to her the hadeeth that you see on the cover.

We learnt about scholars and what do they do. We used this poem and  and this one  and pasted on the scrapbook. Discussed about the fact that we are ordered by Allaah to ask those who know and shun ignorance in the dheen of Allaah. And this is where the Ulama are very important.

Umar Bin Abdul Azeez
So we started with the 2nd Century scholars after the Sahabah (as we are already doing another scrapbook on sahabahs any way) and from them we choose Umar bin Abdul Azeez.

We discussed about his character, his justice, how young he was when he memorised the Qur'aan and the fact that he used to fear death and cry even when he was a young child. The interesting fact was that the wolves did not harm the sheep during his rule due to his justice and this was something amazing for Maimoonah that she kept repeating it to everyone. Its so fascinating that we have such wonderful true characters in Islaam where we can continue discussions upon discussions, subhanallaah and indeed talking about them and reading their marvelous God fearing characters and incidents can only be a great influence for the Tarrbiyah of our children.

We read his biography and chose important facts from it. Then with her help I typed on Word and printed them out. Then she pasted them on the scrapbook and decorated.

I have also taught her tracing and she likes the idea. So asked her to trace this map and mark Umar bin Abdul Azeez's birth place, place where he studied, the city of his Khilaafah and the place of death.

Some pictures are not clear Inshaa Allaah will upload the document we did soon so that you can see the contents clearly and those who wish to use it can use with their kids as well. You can download the document we used for the scrapbook here.

So that ends Umar bin Abdul Azeez. Inshaa Allaah we will go on with the next scholar soon.

You can also read more here. Found this after we completed this study.
