بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

السلام عليكم

At my Tarbiyah class, I was told to do a project including all what we have studied in sewing for few weeks.

We had to include the following stitches
  • Cross stitch.
  • Blanket stitch,
  • Running stitch,
  • Back stitch
  • Whip stitch.
  • French knot
  • Split stitch
  • Chain stitch
  • Satin stitch
  • Buttons
And include the following:
  • A tree
  • A House with at least one window and door
  • flowers
  • hills or roads or grass
  • leaves
First we cut the pieces and made a scenery. Then we stuck them on the material. Next we sewed them. For the house I used blanket stitch, for the path I used the split stitch, the cherry tree is in whip stitch,

The grass chain stitch, the leaves were filled with satin stitch, We did cross stitch for the cloud and the buttons, back stitch for the flowers, french knot for more flowers, running stitch for the sun, and the mountains. We did a pond, but it was stuck, instead of being sewn.

...this is how it looks when done

It is easy, and I remembered all the stitches. If you like, you can make like me!

Tarbiyah Girls Club Level 2 - Classes 6 - 13

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Alhamdulillaah we concluded the Tarbiyah Girls Club classes level 2 last week. Due to all my commitments I was unable to update each class. And I was unable to take pictures of all the documents as well. So here is a summery of what we have done from class 6 to 13 and few of the pics what I manage to take.

As for Waajibaat the girls completed the whole chapter of "Who is your Prophet". It included knowing the difference between a Messenger and a Prophet, the Messenger of Allaah's physical Characteristics, and his beautiful manners. At the end of this lesson, the girls did a project work by writing how following the manners of the Prophet would make them a better Muslimah, They had to include how to know the life story of the Prophet, how to learn his character and manners, what are the best ways to understand his examples, how would following his examples get them closer to Allaah and so on.
The girls also did a poster the following week on "Manners of the Messenger of Allaah".

Then we learnt about the "Shahaadatain", its meaning, its pillars and its seven conditions. At the end of the chapter they made a poster about the Shahadah.

To make it easier for the kids we started having a Quiz at the beginning of each class from few selected chapters on what we have studied from the beginning. They were asked to study and be prepared for the quiz at the next class, This proved very much successful Alhamdulillaah as the girls started to benefit from what they have studied as asking questions made them remember and realize what is given to them in the notes.

In Tahaarah we completed Hadeeth 3 to 6 from the Chapter entering the place where one releives himself and cleaning the private parts. This included the following:
  • The Prohibition of facing the direction of the Ka'bah while relieving oneself
  • What to do if the toilets are already built facing the Ka'bah
  • Making Istinjaah (Cleaning the private parts) with water
  • The punishment in the grave because of not taking care of the urine on oneself.
The kids learnt a lot from these hadeeth and these hadeeth help them understand lot of benefits other than the Tahaarah itself like learning about the narrators their manners and actions, the innovations and the importance of following the sunnah and understanding it according to the explanations of the companions and the scholars and much more. Subhanallaah every part of it is filled with benefits Alhamdulillaah.

As for Adab al Mufrad we covered up to Chapter 10 still dealing with dutifulness to parents. The kids learnt even to make Hijrah and Jihad they need to ask permission from their parents and make them happy first they also learnt that they must not raise their voices to the parents and what a disgraceful act it is to do so.

We completed Hafsa bint Umar radhiyallaahi anha in the great women of Islaam, Kids were given the summary of the story and they had to complete a fact sheet and write how she is a role model for them.

Home Making turned out to be a very structured program for this level as the kids actually learnt something proper. The sister had planned it well this time. The kids basically learnt the whole program of cutting with knife for cooking.

We spoke about the definition of ibadaah - worship and explained to the girls how home making could be linked to Ibaadah and they could get rewarded for learning and making!

They did arts and crafts items and other things for the community project,

And then they moved on to learning sewing. Hand sewing first with learning and practicing each and every stitch to stitch by themselves before embarking on any project.

Each child was given a very good sewing kit. And each item in it was introduced to them and taught when they should use each of them. They were taught how to use a hoop. And then they have learnt how to stitch/do the following:
  • Threading the needle
  • Putting a knot
  • Starting and Ending each stitch
  • Running stitch
  • Back Stitch
  • Blanket Stitch
  • French knot
  • Split stitch
  • Chain Stitch
  • Cross Stitch
  • Whip Stitch
  • Satin Stitch
  • How to stitch buttons
At each class the kids learnt how to sew all of the above and practiced well. They were given materials and resources to use the stitches they learnt and do a project during the break and bring them back for the next level when we resume after summer Inshaa Allaah.

Other than sewing, the kids made Beeswax candles. The kids watched a You Tube on how bees make honey and then learnt a lot about bees and hives, Then the sister taught them how to follow instructions and make a candle. Each one made their own candles and took them home.

At the last class kids were given a small revision test and then they had to decorate some cupcakes and eat and take home.

Alhamdulillaah we hope all the kids benefited from these classes and hope to see the girls again for the Level 3 we when resume after Summer Inshaa Allaah. We thank all the parents and the sisters who helped us in every way to make these classes a success and may Allaah accept this from us. Aameen.

Here are some moments!

Tarbiyah Girls Club - Level 2 - Class 5

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

At the 5th Class of the Tarbiyah Girls Club we learnt the next part of "Who is your Prophet?" in Al Waajibaat where the kids learnt the interesting parts of seerah with regard to receiving the revelation and the details of the Prophethood and Messengership. We learnt the excellent example of Khadeejah radhiyallaahu anhu as well along with the other incidents!

We also learnt the benefits of the ahadeeth mentioned.

As for Tahaarah the children learnt the next hadeeth from the book of Tahaarah - Continuing with etiquettes in relieving oneself we learnt the ruling of facing the Qiblah.

Alhamdulillaah there was a lot of benefit in learning this hadeeth as it explains the ruling and also teaches the kids what to do in case of already built toilets that are facing the Qiblah and gives the example of the sahaabah with explanation. The kids were busy thinking about their own toilets and bathrooms at home and in which directions they were built. Its really pleasing to see the girls trying to apply and act upon the knowledge they have learnt. Alhamdulillah

For the next few classes we hope to get the kids to make some crafty items for a reason! We thought of educating them that the skills that Allaah has given us can be used to worship Him alone and please him. We hope to do a community project with the girls where the kids will make some items each week and after few weeks and when we have enough items the kids will organize a yard sale and sell those items. The proceedings from the sale will be given in charity Inshaa Allaah. Our main aim here is to make the kids go through the process from scratch which is first and foremost the "Intention" then the learning the skills, then using them well to please Allaah, understanding how to organize and plan an event, and of course the essence and benefit of giving charity!

So we started off with talking about intention and what our intention should be. We made them understand how this project is connected with worshipping Allaah alone and the reward for every step they do, We hope to talk more about Ibaadah next time Inshaa Allaah!

Then we started with our first project which is making some little magnetic items. This week the girls painted and made the papers to past on the items!

As for Great Women in Islaam we learnt the life story of Aayshaa Radhiyallaau anhu.

Alhamdulillaah the kids really enjoyed and there was a lot to learn from this for all of us. The kids were amazed to know the size of the house she lived in and the things she used to do. Every incident was filled with lessons to learn and discuss. They all loved the little stories of Aayshah and Inshaa Allaah we will continue it next session as well.

Tarbiyah Girls Club - Level 2 - Class 4

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Continuing with Level 2 of the Tarbiyah Classes we had Class 4 sometime back. The Girls learnt the second part of "Who is your Prophet?" in Waajibaat. This included the following:
  • Where he was born
  • Names of his parents
  • How many years did he live in makkah and how old was he when he died
  • Knowledge about his life

Learning about our Prophet sallaahu alaihiwasallaam is always refreshing and the kids are enjoying!

As for Adab Al Mufrad we continued with obedience to parents this time the girls learnt about Avoiding cursing the parents. This hadeeth also brought out many other aspects that we discussed such as how the companions were so diligent is preserving knowledge and conveying!

We had completed the cutting skills for home making at the last class. Since there are few new students enrolled for this level we decided to talk about our Role Models and make a poster as a revision for all!

So we spoke about who is Sahaabiyaat and there characteristics and why are they our role models. The kids used their creativity and made some beautiful posters! I have lost the pictures of the posters Qadarallaah.

Tarbiyah Girls Club - Level 2 - Class 3

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Last week we had the 3rd class. Alhamdulillaah we have completed "Knowing Your Religion" and went on to "Knowing Your Prophet" in Al Waajibaat. Al Waajibaat book could be purchased at Taalib Al Ilm Educational Service here

The children learnt the full name of our Prophet sallaahu alahiwasallam with his lineage. They also learnt the 5 matters we should know with regard to the Prophet and learnt in detail the first matter "his lineage". We discussed about the Arabs, Ismaaeel and Ibraheem alahissalaam, the different 5 names of the Messenger of Allaah. Children also completed the worksheet.

Please note, There is printing error in this document with regard to the name of the Prophet as ibn Abdullaah is missing, we corrected and gave the kids, pic was taken before correction

We continued with Tahaarah and started with the Chapter of entering the places where one relieves one's self. The first hadeeth talks about what to say when entering the khalaa - the places of relieving one's self. The kids learnt the duaa and the benefits of the hadeeth and were asked to complete the worksheet.

This week the kids had to use the skills they were taught for the last two lessons in cutting and make their own healthy Salad. They were given a recipe and put into different groups supervised by us.

Then they were taught how to peel, grate and cut and make the salad.

They all really enjoyed and tasted their healthy salad. I forgot to take a picture of the salad they made! It was yummy! Alhamdulillaah!

Tarbiyah Girls Club - Level 2 - Class 2

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

At the second class of the Tarbiyah Girls Club we covered the last part of Knowing your religion in Al Waajibaat, Al Baraa from Shirk and its people. We spoke about Baraa - dissociation and the opposite of it - association. We discussed the story of Ibraaheem alahissalaam and lessons to learn from it with regard to al baaraa. And talked about examples of Al walaa for the muslims.

Then we continued with Al Adab Al Mufrad next hadeeth talking about the worse of the Major sins connecting to disobedience to parents. We also asked the kids to write down how each one of them experienced 5 situations of obeying and disobeying their parents. After they wrote we discussed how many times they obeyed and how many times they disobeyed. We spoke about how they feel now with situations of disobedience and all were saying they feel they should not have disobeyed. So we encouraged them to remember what they learn and put into action while dealing with parents.

For homemaking skills the kids were divided into groups and each child got her own cutting board, knife, and tomatoes and cucumbers. The lesson was learning to cut.

The kids were taught knife safety and how to pass around the knife emphasising to put the knife down. They were also taught what to do if the knife accidently falls, they demonstrated moving away.

They washed their hands and then learnt how to hold the knife.

Then they were asked to cut and chop the tomatoes and cucumbers using the different chopping and cutting methods they learnt.

Girls had fun and really learnt the whole procedure well. The sister puts in lot of planning and organization for these homemaking lessons and our kids are really benefitting bi idhnillaah. May Allaah bless her and her family for opening her house for these classes and arranging everything well in advance. Aameen.

We are following the same books such as Al Waajibaat, book of Tahaarah explanation of Umdatul Ahkaam, Adab Al Mufrad and the Great Women of Islaam. For home making we have an organized curriculum this time thanks to the sister who is taking in charge of the whole subject, where kids learn a skill from scratch and is given training on it and tested as well.

So the first class was all about getting to know each other and revision. Reminding the kids about Khutbatul Hajjah, manners of the students, The three fundamental principles and going through some of the aspects of Tahaarah. We discussed about the sahaabah, the Ummahaathul Mu'mineen and why they are our role models.

As a revision the girls were asked to design a poster on "Knowing Your Lord through His Signs" and they presented their work.

And the sister started the Homemaking with Knife and cutting skills. She taught them the different kinds of knives used for different cutting purposes, knife safety, how to handle a knife and what are the different ways to cut.

The kids were also asked to lebel the parts of a knife.

Tarbiyah Girls Club - Final Class for Level 1

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Alhamdulillaah! last Saturday was the last Class for level 1 of this Course. So this class included a revision test of all what we have studied. This was a set of simple worksheets for kids to review what they have done during the last 10 classes.

Since we missed out one hadeeth from Umdatul Ahkaam - Book of tahaarah we completed that one at this class. This hadeeth deals with urinating it still water and having a ghusl in still water while in a state of janaabah. We did not explain to the kids the meaning of a junoob except we said we will talk about it later and it is a state of impurity.

Then we had an oral quiz contest. Divided the kids into two groups and the one who answered the most amount of the correct answers and got the highest points was chosen as the winner and we gave some sweets to the winner too.

Then the girls decorated cupcakes and had some fun. These were carrot cupcakes which were baked and the kids decorated their own cupcakes.

They also had some fun playing around. Finally each girl was given a gift bag. They all seemed happy about it as this came as a surprise to them.

Alhamdulillaah we were able to cover Al Waajibaat upto Knowing Your Religion, We completed the Book of Tahaarah - on Wudoo and purification from Umdatul Ahkaam, we have also done around 6 hadeeth on Adab Al Mufrad and learnt about 3 Great Women of Islaam.

We hope that this initiative benefited the kids and their families and we look forward to continue this club after summer too Inshaa Allaah!

I would like to thank the girls and their parents for enrolling, the sister who opened up her house for this club and for initiating this project and working tirelessly throughout. The sister who took in charge of home making activities for the girls and for a job well done. Sister Umm Aayaah for helping me with all the graphic design and layout for the documents. We continued with Adab Al Mufrad on the topic "Repaying Parents". We learnt the wonderful manners of Abu Huraryrah radhiyallaahu anhu with his mother and the statement of Ibn Umar with regard to repaying one's mother even if someone carries her and made tawaaf when she was old. We spoke about the pain that a mother goes through when she gives birth and how we should be dutiful to her at all times.

This time the kids did bookmarks. We got inspired by this link. And the kids were happy with their work.
