All about Horses!

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

So, like most of the kids Maimoonah is obsessed with Horses these days. Thanks to Sister Iman at Iman Homeschool, we managed to do a Lapbook about Horses. Since Maimoonah is learning to ride a horse and has been reading a lot about Horses, she was the one who explained to me all the details in this Lapbook.

A friend of mine gave these lovely books about Horses. We borrowed The Little Pony book from the QMuslimah Children Library.

She wrote the parts of the Horse.

The different breeds of Horses and what they eat.

Horse Sports!

Horse Colours!

What the Qur'aan and the Hadeeth say about Horses in Islaam! She showed this lapbook to her teacher at the horse riding lessons who is not a Muslim, and in fact when she asked her to read about what Islaam says about Horses, Maimoonah had asked her would you like to learn more about Islaam, if so please come home Ummi will teach you! Alhamdulillaah Dawah!

Taking care of the Horses and Grooming them! She in fact had a live grooming lesson at the class, after she did the Lapbook!

Horse Marking! The Horseshoe and the Kufr involved in some people's belief in it.

Division practice!

This was a nice experience as she was able to do the lapbook while she was exposed to real horses!

All About Me!

I had this Lap Book Templates printed out a year ago I guess but now was the right time to do this with Maimoonah as she could complete most of it independently and her understanding is also age appropriate for this All About Me Lapbook. I did not use all the templates just chose the relevant ones only.

It was a very nice experience actually knowing my daughter. This Lapbook helped me understand her more and taught me how much little kids understand things when basics are taught constantly. I was actually very proud of her All Praise be to Allaah alone as all her answers were instant answers and showed pure fitra subhanallaah. May Allaah increase this Fitra with time to come and keep her upon this till this end, Aameen. She is grown but still innocent with a very strong firm personality upon Tawheed Allaahu Baarik Lahaa!

We used the large Cornflakes Box for the lap book. We had an old wrapping paper and covered the box and folded it into two and this is the front cover of the Lapbook.

This is the Back Cover of the Lap Book.

I gave her to decorate the mirror and write the title. And she did a nice job.

The inside of the lapbook looks like this.

 Now for the details.

She wrote all her personal details here (Myself, Me and I) including an imaginary email address with gmail!

She wrote some of her favourite things.

I must mention this, I asked her what is your favourite restaurant? She immediately said Gulf Paradise Hotel. We happen to live there for few days and she was only 2 years and 3 months at that time. She loved that place especially because the birds used to make noises and wake her up she was so happy! And she loved their breakfast and all the attention she got there with a variety. And up until now that is her only favourite restaurant even though she had been to many other places.

I told her to get old magazines and cut out pictures of some of her favourite things she would love to have and what she already has. Then she pasted them on this "Few of My favourite Things" book.

Then she wrote details about her house, room, with an imaginary pet called bunny : ) And so heart warming thing was she had to write in a small booklet " My Heart Belongs to ...... " She did not think even for quarter of a second she said Allaah and wrote. This is indeed pure fitra! No one taught her this except her Lord.

Then she wrote how she spends her free time.

And what she would want to do when she grows up inshaa Allaah!

The Time Line!

Little details about where she lives! She used the world fact book to record the information.

She wrote her favourite books and the authors names.

Her schedules.

She drew her family.

Interesting part was this sweet interview!

And I loved this more than anything else Subhanallaah!

All answers are written as she dictated. The Jannah details are fresh for her because she on and off reads the Darul Kitab My Little Book of Jannah and what she told me were the exact words written on the book.

Finally traced both her hands and we cut and pasted on the back cover of the lapbook and she wrote!

Nice experience Innal Hamdalillah!

Here are some other homeschooling kids' All About Me Lapbooks. It was nice to see different children doing the same thing!

Kindergarten Curriculum Summary - Week 23

Islaamic Studies
  • Seerah - We read about the People of Madeenah coming to Makkah and accepting Islaam and the marraige of Aaisha radhiyallaahu anha to the Messenger of Allaah sallaahu alaihiwasallam.

  • We read and Discussed the Darul Kitab Book - Asking Allaah alone. I realised making it a habit to read one book of the Darul Kitaab Laean about Series is helping more now because Maimoonah is grown now and her understanding is different from few months ago. Reading about Asking Allaah alone she understood the meaning of it and it really boosted her Tawheed and Eemaan. It was a very fruitful discussion and a good read. Alhamdulillaah!

English
  • Grammar - We learnt about Exclamations and I had to explain certain Exclamations should not be made by Muslims and gave her the supporting hadeeth like not saying yucky for food since the Messenger of Allaah never criticised food and if he did not like he left it. Also explained to her the Islamic Exclamations like Subhanallaah! Allaahu Akbar and so on! The work book was very interesting and she loved the activities.

  • Writing - I forgot to mention this last week, since we were learning about writing address I gave her a post card and said think as if a friend is writing a post card to you and write your address and the message. Maashaa Allaah she remembered an old friend of her's who left to Egypt sometime back and she wrote as if that friend is writing to her.

Social Studies
  • Comminty Helper - She wanted to learn about Nurse. I could not find any Lapbook for this so we made our own little book.

If She was to become a nurse I asked her to write what she would do. This is what it says!
I will be kind. I will check blood pressure. I will look after new born babies. I will give medicine to the sick.  I will keep medical records. I will dress the wounds. Inshaa Allaah!

Maths

  • MEP is becoming nice and interesting for Maimoonah now and she does with lot of interest.

Arabic

  • We are practicing Reading and Verbs with Fatha TJ unit study. Also revising the different forms of letters as still she gets confused a bit with different forms. But the daily Arabic Drilling and the TJ unti studies have really helped her and she is catching up! Innal Hamdalillaah!
