Arabic - Something More!

I feel I am not doing enough for Arabic with Maimoonah comparing to other subjects. And truly, I really feel bad about it. We were looking for a native Arabic teacher but Qadarallaah Masha Allaah we could not get someone till now and Insha Allaah will keep looking.

So until then I thought I will just include some interesting various activities each week for Maimoonah to improve her Arabic as well as mine. : )

Alhamdulillaah a dear sister sent me some links to help learn and teach Arabic and I would like to share what we are hoping to do from next week onwards Insha Allaah!

Madeenah Arabic Reader

Insha Allaah we will continue with our Madeenah Arabic Reader Book 1. But I will also use this website  to make it more interactive and interesting.

Arabic Reading
Will continue with the Iqra Books. I have few Arabic Story Books. I will use them as well as these books.(Word of caution! Please chose what is Islamically appropriate from this selection. Insha Allaah). Some of these books are translated by the sister and you can view it here.

Arabic Vocabulary
The same site here has flash cards for Arabic vocabulary with sound and image. So we will be using each menu topic for each week Insha Allaah. We will also be using this for interactive Vocabulary. Please do not leave your kids unattended on this site as there are many unislamic stuff out there. We can use one chapter per week Insha Allaah. We will also use ArabicFirst Books for vocabulary and reading.

Arabic Writing
There are a lot of downloadable worksheets for learning to write individual letters, but I was looking for words and found this. So Insha Allaah along with Gateway For Arabic book that we are using now we would use this new one for learning to write Insha Allaah!.

Qur'aan Centre Activities

Alhamdulillaah our dear sister Umm An Nu'man has done us a big favour by putting out these cute beneficial Qur'aan Centre Work Books for each Soorah. So far you get for Soorah Faatihah, Soorah Ikhlaas, Soorah Falaq and Soorah Naas. You get many activities to do with kids and I am sure all of us will enjoy. So Insha Allaah we will start doing this each week too. Along with this I will be using the Learning Roots Word Flow as well.

Arabic Conversation
We will use this for Conversation Insha Allaah.

Listening to Arabic and English Audio
This is mainly for me but will keep Maimoonah next to me Insha Allaah. A sister said that she improved her Arabic a lot by listening to Arabic English audio's mainly of our Noble Brother Abu Talha Dawud Burbank raheemahullaah. So I decided to make sometime at least once or twice each week to listen to his audio. And since I am planning to teach Usooluth Thalaathah next year for Islaamic Studies for Maimoonah I thought we will start with the Explanation of Usooluth Thalaathah audios available here. You can download the Arabic Text of the Explanation of Usooluth Thalaathah here and follow the audio on http://ittibaa.com/. Alhamdulillaah for each class you get the transcription for downloading too. May Allaah reward the brothers and sisters for their efforts.

So this is what I have planned for Arabic from next week Insha Allaah. I ask Allaah to enable me to do all of this and give us success with the language of the Qur'aan and I ask Allaah to make it easy for us to learn to His sake alone. Aameen.

(Again a word of caution. Some of the links I have mentioned above are purely for Arabic use only and I do not guarantee the authenticity of the other materials on those sites, so please take what is Islaamically appropriate and avoid that which is doubtful and what is not upon the correct belief of Islaam. Barakallaah Feekum)

Assalaamu alaikum,

Masha Allah, great resources! May Allah make the learning of the language of the Quran easy for both of you! Abu Adam and myself was just discussing last week how we want to increase the use of arabic in our home in general and in the kids curriculum. Will include what we decided in a post soon insha Allah. MashaAllah very useful resources, jazakillahu khair for sharing.

Do guys use kid's page at islamweb.net? http://kids.islamweb.net/

Alaikum salaam warahmathullaahi wa brakaathuhu Imaan, wa iyaaki.

Wa Iyyaaki Umm Sara, yes I use the site when I need, not very much though as I feel it would have been nice if they had disfigured the pictures since they are mainly speaking about Islaam. Now that Maimoonah knows the ruling on the issue (and she thinks that all sites that have such animations with figures are done by non Muslims) I do not want to her to think it is acceptable, Allahu A'lam. They do have some nice info though!

Assalamu alaykum sis,
I havent been able to leave a comment here recently and now I am so glad to have stopped by. JazakAllahu Khayr for the links to vocab pages with audio version. i was looking for sth similar alhamdulillah. we use books for arabic but sometimes other alternatives are good to reinforce their interest and they like learning on laptop like adults :), guess it is something entertaining for them as well as learing. :)
i read on previous post on follow up activities on seerah. we keep notebook too. i ask kids do a drawing on a certain paragraph, or quickly find relevant coloring page they color, cut and paste it on the notebook whilst narrating the story. or i do sequencing activity with mixed up sentences both oral/written, sequencing the story in pictures- try to find the relevant pictures on google, print and cut and ask kids to put in right order again you can get them narrate the story back whilst doing it, quick Q&A sessions during circle times etc.
You guys should give me tutorial on bloggin sometime inshaAllah, lots of admiration. so much to learn for me :)

Alaikum salaam warahmathullaag Ukhtee Umm Amina, Alhamdulillaah we are well, Maimoonah was down with a cold and we had to take few days off Qadarallaah Masha Allaah, but she is fine now by the grace of Allaah! Yes sis I have heard about this Qaaidah and most of the people of ilm seem to recommend it, when I wanted to send Maimoonah for a the learning of this qaidah to a local place I researched a bit more into this and found that this particular Qaaidah was basically introduced by the Indian sub continent Muslims especially for kids so that it will be easier for them to learn the reading. I also found that this particular Qaaidah has a method where it divides one word in to two parts and teaches kids, I spoke to a student of ilm about it and he said there is a bit of Ikhtilaaf in this method mainly because when they teach the word which is a name of Allaah then it is divided into two parts too, and he said some scholars find it incorrect to do this, Allaahu A'lam. Even though it is not a method refuted by anyone yet I thought it would be safe to keep away from it, Allaahu A'lam. Once again this is my opinion to stay away from it and I do not say that this method is wrong in any way, as I am not knowledgeable to tell this whatsoever.
Having said this I have seen lot of children learning well using this Qaaidah and it seems its pretty popular in the Arab world too.
Barakallaah feekum Ukhtee for the suggestion.
