Hajj Resources!

Alhaamdulillaah, Our Lord the Most Merciful has blessed us once again to witness the best 10 days of the years. All Praise in indeed due to Him alone.

This is the best time to teach our kids the importance of these blessed days along with Hajj and Eid Inshaa Allaah.

For those of you who want to do some activities with kids here are some of the resources I found to be beneficial. We will be also doing most of the activities from below Inshaa Allaah as we have completed 6 weeks of school and will be having a break from formal school till Eid.

I hope you will find the above useful and May Allaah make it easy for us to teach our kids the importance of these blessed days and make it easy for us to make the best out of this opportunity. Aameen.

Asslamualikum UmmMamimoona, i just got to your blog for the first time and im really impressed Mashallah. I have been thinking of homeschooling for a while. Happy to see such a successful homschooler Mashallah. I was looking around your blog, i understand you started this when she was 2 yrs old. Where can i see the blogposts from back then? My son is almost 2.
I have a lot of doubts in head like questions of how will they learn to socialise with others their age. What about the case when the mother gets engaged with other things (for example another kid etc)
Hope to hear from you soon inshAllah.

Alaikum salaam Umm Bilal, I am really sorry for the late response. I had no Internet for sometime due to relocation. Glad the blog is of benefit to you. Alhamdulillaah. If you want to see the beginning posts please click the blog archives for the year 2010 and 2011. You will find the posts there. You can also check our Preschool Curriculum Summary posts for week by week activities and resources here inshaa Allaah.

I understand your mind right now. We all passed this stage and its the same for all of us homeschoolers at the start of it. But when you reallys tart after isthikarah and with lots of dua things will fall into place and Allaah will make it easy and interesting maashaa Allaah. So start it light and identify your child's learning style and interest and take it from there. Please do let me know if you need any more specific help, will be glad to help and share what we have done inshaa Allaah.

socializing s for me has nothing to do with homeschooling. It's just a personality of the child. Maimoonah as you know has been an indoor child far away from relatives and friends in a different land. But she is a social child. She will easily get a long with any stranger. This has nothing to do with homeschooling, it's just her personality that Allaah has created. And I feel this is the same for every child. What you nuture them upon is what is they know and how they behave. We got to respect their personality and teach them along that way. At the mean time look for some homeschooling play groups and support group in your area, this help you and your son to meet people and exchange ideas.

As for having multiple siblings and engaging in other work, then it depends on your household. You might have to have some organization which really helps, but do not have rigid timetables which will stress you and your kids. Just observe and see how your kids learn and what and how they do things and eventually you will figure out what will suit best for your family and inshaa Allaah you will find a way to get organized. For example if you are engaging in house hold work you can get your son to sort laundry, help you out with something small while you still do your work plus your son learns something too. And while you are cooking you can keep your son in the kitchen and teach him the names of he items in the kitchen or recite a Sonoran to him and so on. And you can do some serious work with him while his siblings are asleep. Do not worry too much sis, all this will fall into place when you start doing it and Allaah will make it easy for you. Hope this helped you in some way. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need to know anything more.

Amatullaah, Alaikum salaam. Jazzakillaah khayr for your concern and checking on us. As you have seen my new post, we had to relocate temporarily, so that was the reason of being silent. Alhamdulillaah just got Internet and we are back blogging. Alhamdulillaah we are well just recovering from a severe cold and cough. Thanks again for everything.
