Umrah in Ramadhaan 1432 (2011) - Part IV

So it was the Day of Eid. To get a place in the Haram to pray the Eid Salaah, you got to go for Fajr and sit and wait. So early in the morning at about 4am went outside the Hotel to get a taxi, the streets were crowded and no taxi. Ultimately decided to walk. We walked fast and reached the Haram in 15 minutes masha Allaah.

Subhanallaah it was so crowded, but managed to go to the first floor and find a place. Prayed Fajr and waited for Eid Salaah. Takbeer was going on and Maimoonah got friendly with the neighbours an Egyptian Family, they were entertaining her with their iphones showing her videos of their pet kitten, Maimoonah was thrilled.

She also got some sweet gifts wrapped with chocolates and riyals from people at the Haram, even a Mutawwah gave her a gift of 10 riyals, she was very happy, and wanted Abi to buy some toys: )

We prayed the Eid Salaah, listened to the Khutbah and brought some breakfast and went to the hotel and fell asleep. Got up for Dhuhar and went back to the Haram. Prayed there and went to the clock Tower for lunch. Had lunch and Maimoonah wanted an ice cream treat for Eid. So all of us had caramel ice cream and it was time for Asr. Went to the Haram, prayed. Masha Allaah by now the crowd has reduced in the Haram and Maimoonah could even roll on the carpets. Most of the people leave after Eid Salaah to Madeenah or back home.

We were around the Haram till Magrib. Prayed Magrib and Isha and decided to do a Tawaf as it will be our final day in the Haram before we leave to Madeenah next day. Even though the crowd has reduced tawaaf area was still crowded. We did a Tawaaf Alhamdulillaah. Now that feeling of sorrow and sadness was building up because it was time to leave Makkaah, subhanallaah, what a feeling as if you are leaving home.

We went back to the hotel. packed our bagages and went to sleep.

Next day at about 8 am we left to Madeenah. on our way we passed through Mina, Arafah, Jamaraat, slaughter houses, Jabalur Rahmah. Pictures are already there, so I guess you know by now what we saw. It was nice to see the places we visited 7 years ago which so much crowd and now deserted! I showed Maimoonah Jabalur Rahmah where we actually stood on the day of Arafah. She asked me is this where you cried and creid and asked Allaah to give a Maimoonah? lol, yes I have told her this before and she remembered when I showed with full of tears. Very sensitive for her age, subhanallaah!

Then another 6 hours Journey to Madeenah. We settled in our Hotel.

 And went for Magrib to  Masjidun Nabawi. I was not allowed to go inside beacuse I was carrying a phone!!!! They told me to leave the phone with security which I did not want to do. So had to pray in the courtyard. Masha Allaah it was so nice to hear Imam Hudhaifi's voice again!

After Isha we had to go look for some toys for Maimoonah to by with the gift cash she got. So went around and around could not find anything proper that night, we were tired and went to the hotel and slept. Next day we prayed Dhuhar and went to a restaurent at Moven Pick and had a good lunch masha Allaah! Then went to Bin Dawood and got some toys for Maimoonah and we decided to go to Masjid Qiblathain after Isha. During Hajj time we walked and walked and walked finding for McDonald in Madeenah and ended up at Masjidul Qiblathain : ). Lol. This time there was Traffic and by the time we reached the Masjid it was closed for the day. Explained to Maimoonah the significance of this Masjid which was where Allaah commanded the Prophet to turn his direction towards Makkah while in Salaah as they were facing Jeruselem before. She was eager to see inside, Qadarallaah Masha Allaah may be next time Insha Allaah!.


Came back to the hotel and next day was Jummauh and after Jumuah we were to leave Madeenah and go home. That night Maimoonah had fever and was really sick. Gave her Panadol and put her to sleep. After Fajr I kept my husband with Maimoonah as she was still asleep and she needs sleep to be fit to travel back home. I went to the Rawdah. Each year I have terrible expereince in visiting the Rawdah, for those of you who do not know here is what the Rawdah is all about.

Rasulallah has said, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, in the collection of Bukhari:

“The space between my house and my pulpit is (Rawdah) one of the gardens of Paradise, and my pulpit is at my Fountain.”

And for women to visit the Rawdah is according to timings and its always crowded. Nevertheless waited there for 3 hours and entered the Rawdah area with pushing and all sorts of things happeneing there. Highly disorganized and actually no good in it subhanallaah the way the women behave there. The Rawdah is close to the grave of the Messenger of Allaah and the graves of Abu Bakr and Umar radhiyallaahu anhumah. It is not recommended for women to visit the graves so I went to the rawdah area and tried to pray two Rakah, subahnallaah I had to break my salaah as I got pushed away from the rawdah area, so crowded. And you just cannot pray there. So I left the rawdah area after 4 hours of struggle went on to a corner of the Masjid and peacefully prayed two rakahs and went back to the hotel. Maimoonah was still asleep : ) And we had planned to go to Masjid Quba the First Mosque of Islaam but there was no time and we could not. The feeling in Quba is so wonderful, it was sad not to go there after coming to Madeenah, Qadarallaah Masha Allaah. We have promised Maimoonah that we will bring her again when there is no crowd during off peak time and she can visit all the places in Madeenah and be around the Haram in Makkah Insha Allaah!

Woke her up, dressed her and we got ready to go for Jummah. Masha Allaah Jummuah was nice and after that we had lunch and got on to the bus to go back home!

So another 24 hours journey ahead. alhamdulillaah Maimoonah was fresh, fever has gone, but she still had cough and running nose. She was happy to go home and to play with her toys!

On our way to Qatar, we passed Riyadh and Dammaam huge cities of KSA, masha Allaah!

There were so many vehicles going towards the border masha Allaah, after about 19 hours we reached the Saudi Border at 8 am in the morning. In between they stopped for food and salaah on the way. Conditions of toilets and places were really bad and we did not use any of the toilets till we reached home. Masha Allaah Maimoonah can hold on for longer time. And if at all I used the diaper and cleaned her with wet wipes and tissue whereever we are when she needed to go. This was the case in the Haram too as toilets in the Haram are outside far away from the Masjid. But your system there masha Allaah dries up and you do not use the toilets very often, a blessing indeed.

So at the Saudi Border we stayed for about 3 hours. After stamping the passports left the Border and reached the Qatar Border Alhamdulillaah! Qatar Border is very clean and nice and masha Allaah they are much faster. The delay there was only due to too many Qataris returning from Saudi. Also we were treated very well there as they asked us to come inside air conditioned rooms and sit till they could check our baggages. So after about 2 and a half hours or so we left the Qatar boder and reached Doha at about 2 pm Alhamdulillaah!

So this ends our travel and this series of posts on Umrah in Ramadhaan. I hope this would benefit others as well Insha Allaah!

Umrah In Ramadhaan 1432 (2011) - Part III

After Umrah we slept almost close upon Asr that day after Fajr, subhanallaah, that was about 10 hours of sleep, And Allaah wanted us to have this rest, He is indeed Merciful, usually Maimoonah wakes up in between, this time nothing, just flat : ). So that day we did not go to the Haram as both of us were still having pains and we wanted to be fit for the next day as it was an odd night. So broke fast at the hotel and decided to visit the Souqs in Aziziya, Makkah to get some Jilbaabs and thobes.

Got into a taxi and went to Azizia. Subhanallaah it was crowded there and those of you who love shopping would love the place. Its a huge highway with Souqs on both the sides. You get all sorts of things masha Allaah. I do not know of a place like this in Qatar and I know the Qataris would love this too. You get Centrepoint huge Mall as well with Home Centre and their other brands and products.

Went from one place to another hunting for Jilbaabs. I was shocked and disappointed. Subhanallaah. You may wonder why? The Jilbaabs I wear todate are ones I bought from Azizia same place in 2004 when we went for Hajj, my husband bought me a stock as we knew we cannot get Jilbaabs in other lands like in Makkah. They were reasonable and good quality. This time, just could not find a shop exclusive only for Jilbabaabs. All what they had was Abaayahs and few Jilbaabs even that with Sleeves. If you are wondering what is my problem, then I believe that Jilbaab what the Sahaabah wore was a 1 piece garment which is very loose and without any shape : ) And if I remember correct Shaikh Fowzaan Hafidhahullaah says Jilbaab with sleeves are not defined as Jilbaabs. So we continued looking for it and finally gave up, thinking we will try in Madeenah if not go back to Doha and get it stitched Insha Allaah! My husband's size thobes wore all soled out, he has a particular brand that he wears and these kind were  all finished : (. Then we walked further up and found a huge two storied building with a huge board saying "International Family Mall" or something to that effect. My Husband was curious and we entered it, Subahanllaah the Crowd again and the amount of stuff masha Allaah. You name it its all there and it was very reasonalable and people were buying and buying and buying. Guess what I forgot to take a picture of the Souqs, so am sorry : )

My husband saw a small play stove and wanted me to check the price and I was expecting it to expensive, but was cheap, so picked that up for Maimoonah. She was like why is Abi buying me so many things, so sweet : ) Then went upstairs and subahanallaah found some beautiful good quality Arab style clothes for Maimoonah. Arab style meaning all the dresses come with trouses and we like it this way and to find so many Masha Allaah was a great thing, as here in Qatar clothes are so expensive and I usually get down clothes from my country for us. My husband picked up some clothes for me too, they were Arab style Shalwar Kameez : ) so I liked them masha Allaah!

After shopping till we dropped lol, went back to the hotel and went to sleep, it was pretty late. Night is Day in Saudi lol, all go to sleep only after Fajr!

Next day we packed my small bag and went to the Haram at Asr time to camp there till the next day lol! Went upstairs, still crowded, but since we went early managed to find a place and booked it for ourselves. I had taken sis Umm An Nu\man's Ramadhaan Activity book for Maimoonah to keep her occupied, The ladies next to me were amazed to see her doing work, masha Allaah and were taking the book and trying to teach her (elderly ladies). Maimoonah also found another girl who wanted to colour with her. They were an Egyptian Family and both of them were busy doing work.

It was time for Iftaar, and masha Allaah people give all sorts of things for you to eat. Maimoonah was amazed to see so many sharing. She was asking me why are they giving and giving Ummi. I said this is the beauty of Islaam, Muslims share and that is the blessing.

Then after salaah still waiting in the same place. She could go to her Abi for a little while and stretch herself. Then it was time for Isha and Taraaweeh. As you know they pray 20 Rakah in the Haram for Taraaweeh and then later they also pray Qiyaam. Even though the Scholars differ with regard to this issue, I take the opinion of Shaikh Albani Raheemahullaah, which is to Pray only 11 or 13 as Night Prayer. So I decided to wait till Qiyaam. When they started Taraaweeh Maimoonah fell asleep. And got up only after they finished, which was a relief for me as I knew she would be fit to wait till Qiyaam and walk back to the Hotel.

Masha Allaah Taraaweeh was nice to listen to, as Imaam Sudaisi was yet again crying and crying and he finished the Qur'aan and made the Dua which was so long and was about 30 to 45 minutes, subahanllaah.

Some people left after Taraweeh and there was space masha Allaah to move about. And usually people fight for their places in Haram, and it is so sad to say these fights are not ordinary its really ugly and the feeling you get is like you are in a market place. May Allaah guide us all! But this particular night which was the 29th night was calm and nice feeling. People were friendly, they were making room for others, sharing lot of things and the feeling was nice masha Allaah even though it was still crowded.

I made some dua, recited the Qur'aan and time for Qiyaam. Prayed Qiyaam. Everytime I wanted to really keep a tab of how many Rakah they were praying Qiyaam and most of the time I was confused. This time really counted and they prayed 13 altogether  : ) and not 11. Khayr. Any way after Qiyaam we decided to buy food for suhoor and go back to the Hotel. Tried to get a taxi and found just one and he wanted 100 riyals, actual cost is only 10 riyals. We decided to walk as usual.: ) Maimoonah was fit to walk masha Allaah, had to carry her a little.

After 40 minutes or so reached the Hotel, had suhoor, prayed Fajr and went to sleep. Got up for Dhuhar. Alhamdulillaah this day was the day of Shak and most probably we knew they would sight the moon. So we got ready and went to the Haram. Prayed Dhuhar there and went to the Hilon and the Clock tower Mall. Masha Allaah Clock Tower was nice and somewhat like the malls in Qatar. Just went around, my husband got his thobes and we prayed Asr and waited for Iftaar at the Haram.

 After Iftaar and Magrib came out of Haram, and went to the Clock tower for Dinner, while awaiting the announcemnt for Eid: ) After Dinner when we came out this is what we saw and this confirmed they have sighted the moon and tomorrow was Eid, Alhamdulillaah. (The Clock Tower Glowing with Eid Mubarak) I am unable to upload the video. Insha Allaah May be I will upload somewhere else and give the link Insha Allaah!

 

Next will be Eid at the Haram and getting ready to pack and leave to Madeenah Insha Allaah!

Umrah in Ramadhaan 1432 (2011) Part II

So by now we were pretty used to staying in the hotel. The hotel was surrounded with Mountains.

And my husband used to go to the Haram by Dhuhar and return to the hotel after Isha to give us food and go back for Qiyaam and comes back only after Fajr, few days later he showed us the place to buy food and we took a walk and bought our food to make it easy for him. So now he used to go for Dhuhar and come back only the next day after Fajr as the crowd was too much and if he leaves the masjid you cannot get a place.

We were busy in the Hotel with reciting the Qura'aan and making Adhkaar. Maimoonah was busy colouring the TJ Ramadhaan Colouring Book and doing some work books I have taken along with us. Also she was doing her Ramadhaan Journal entries too. Masha Allaah she really got the hang of learning to read Arabic with Iqra books and was spending time with that. It was a good rest for me and I was able to finish reciting the Quraan within few days masha Allaah.

 

 

Then on the 27th night I was ready to do my Umrah. My husband was in the Haram from 10 am as it was Jumuah and we joined him for Magrib. I have been for Hajj in 2004 after 4 days of our Marraige Alhamdulillaah and after that I have been for Umrah twice. So this was my 4th visit to the Haram and it was such a wonderful feeling to see the Ka'bah again after sometime. But Subahanllaah the crowd was unbelievable. I am telling you it was worse than Hajj. It was so easy for us to do Ifaadhah during Hajj but this Umrah was so difficult. Any way started off with the Tawaaf and Maimoonah had to be carried at certain points as the crowd was too much. She knew what she had to do so it was easy. It was so sweet to hear her saying "Rabbanaa Aathina...." at the Yemeni Corner. Half way through the tawaaf Adhaan for Isha was called and we had to stop and find a place to pray, which was a greater Jihaad!! Subhanallaah I had to carry Maimoonah and look for a place and after just looking around I concluded if I roam around I will miss the place where I was to meet my husband after salaah. So I just stood with Maimoonah till Iqamah. When the Iqaamah was called just went to the side of the wall, asked Maimoonah to sit there and just started praying on the pathway :) After Salaah continued with the Tawaaf, completed and had some zam zam water, went back to the black stone and headed towards Safa for saee.

I was wondering whether I could really do this, Subahanallaah there was actually no space at the foot of safa to stand. My husband was carrying Maimoonah till I could finish my adkaar and dua at Safa, usually we make long dua at safa and marwa but I had to make it short because the crowd was pushing me and I had no place to stand. Dragged my feet and some how finished saee after about 2 hours or more, subahanllaah, I was really feeling sorry for my husband as he had to accompany us after being in the scorching heat from 10 am. May Allaah reward him for all his efforts and for taking care of us without any complaints. Aameen.

After that we trimmed our hair and finished Umrah, Alhamdulillaah. Then it was time for Qiyaam. And no place to pray. So we went outside of the masjid and settled on the road outside to pray Qiyaam. Had something to eat and prayed Qiyaam. Masha Allaah Qiyaam was wonderful. Imam Sudaisi as usual was so emotional and was crying while reciting and the crowd there cries too, subahanllaah.

So after Qiyaam we had to walk 2km back to the hotel, Subahanllaah la hawla walaa Quwwata illaah billa. It was soooooo tiring and just exhausted. Maimoonah was really finding it difficult to walk and she was so sleepy as well. So we had to take turns and carry her.

Finally made it to the hotel, on the way got some food for suhoor and prayed fajr at the hotel and went to sleep.  So Alhamdulilllaah that was the story of my Umrah.

Next will be the visiting of the Sooqs and the days spent at the Haram till Eid Insha Allaah!

Umrah in Ramadhaan 1432 (2011) - Part 1

As you all know, we chose to go by bus for Umrah this Ramadhaan. Well to tell you all it was indeed a bad choice Qadarallaah Masha Allaah! Why ? Because the journey from Qatar to Makkaah took us 28 hours and it was really tiring and frustrating. We had to just be in the bus for 7 hours at the Saudi Border, mind you this border is just 1 hour from Qatar. It was a Friday and we had to just sit and wait till the authorities could do the stamping and checking of the baggage and stuff. If you go in your own vehicle this procedure takes only less  than 15 minutes. The authorities in Saudi are very slow and take their own cool time to do things : ) so while fasting and having a child it was kind of too much, subhanallaah! So we have decided that we would not travel by bus any more : )

Then after 7 hours of waiting finally passed through the border and after about another 7 hours we reached Riyadh. We broke fast inside the bus.While going you do not see any cities only the desert and a lonely road. In Riyadh they stopped  for Magrib and for dinner. Prayed Magrib and Isha. The places they stop for Prayers and food are not that great. Meaning the toilets are really bad, not clean at all and the places are not maintained. Its so sad but I hope the authorities will look into this and do something about it Insha Allaah! I know its too much to do but it is very necessary.

Then the journey continued and stopped again for Suhoor and Fajr somewhere before the place of Meeqaat. Then at about 10 am we reached the place of Meeqaat near Taif. What did Maimoonah do all this while? Masha Allaah we had a nice group of Filipino revert sisters in the bus and Maimoonah was adored by them as she was very much socialising and did not trouble any of the people in the bus. She was tired and most of the time she was sleeping on my lap. She was thrilled as some sisters called her "Shaikhah Moona" (The Amir's wife of Qatar is called Shaikhah Mozah and everyone loves her too, masha Allaah) Maimoonah knows this and she was thrilled that they called her this way !!!

So at the place of Meeqaat we rented a room and a toilet for one hour. (yet again the room and toilet was not that great but ok to a certain extent) Had a bath and got into Ihraam, then went to the masjid where you say your intention for Umrah. We all did that and got into the bus to go to Makkaah.

Reached Makkah after 2 hours and went to the hotel in Makkah, the hotel the travel agent gave us was very far from the Haram. This was another issue as it is very difficult to get taxis for a reasonable amount to the haram. The walk is about 45 minutes with crowd and about 20 minutes without crowd.

Any way I was unable to enter the Masjid and perform Umrah for about 7 days. So I told Maimoonah I have to wait and if she would like to do Umrah with her Abi. She said ok, but she was too tired and actually made her Abi angry : ), so Abi decided he was going to do it alone and Maimoonah said she will wait in Ihraam till she could perform Umrah with me. Masha Allaah she observed everything of Ihraam for 7 days : )

We had some sleep for few hours and Abi went to the Haram and completed his Umrah, Alhamdulillaah. He came to the hotel with his head shaved and Maimoonah was like , what happened to your hair Abi : )

So for the next 7 days we were in the Hotel, only once we went to the Makkah Hilton, and I was looking for some books, meanwhile Abi took Maimoonah to the Haram for the first time. She said she saw the Ka'bah, she prayed 2 rakah, and also she said the Mutawwahs were tough with the people and the people were fighting!!! Will tell you more about fighting in my next post Insha Allaah!

So at the Book shop in Hilton I had a surprise. I found the books of sis Umm An Nu'man there.

 Maimoonah just loved both of them and so did I. I could not get the other two books of sis Umm An Nu'man Hafsa and Faiza's Dua. I also got the Madeenah Arabic Books for kids there which I needed very badly for this school year, Alhamdulillaah!

Alhamdulillaah! We are Back after Umrah!

On the Day of Eid at Makkah

Assalaamu Alaikum warahmathullaahi wa barakaatuhu Ya Akhawaat,

We are back after a long tiring journey Alhamdulillaah after Umrah and visiting Madeenah. All praise is indeed due to Allaah for enabling us to complete this much awaited journey and making things easy for us and giving is a great experience.

Masha Allaah Maimoonah is good, she fell sick in Madeenah and both of us a having the usual Makkah flu : ). bad throat and cannot talk.

Any way loads of things to share with all of you Insha Allaah. I got few videos and pictures Insha Allaah. Hoping to have a series of post every now and then Insha Allaah so that I do not make all of you bored : )

Nice to be back at home after some time and we are resting and re organizing ourselves Insha Allaah!
