Floating Book Fair

The World's largest Floating Book Fair is here in Doha Port. It is the "Logos Hope" Ship that is here with 7000 odd titles.

We had to park our vehicle at the entrance of the port and a bus takes all the visitors into the ship. It was a great experience for Maimoonah, more than getting on the ship she was excited about travelling in a bus.

Then masha Allaah we got a huge collection of toddler pre school books for a very cheap cost. I had to take the opportunity and get them because we do not have libraries here. So this was indeed an opportunity not to be missed! Here are some of the books we got.

Maimoonah saw the "Noddy" books there and actually started sitting on the floor and reading it lol! I just could not click a picture of her doing this as my phone was away from me..

Any wat here are the pics we took ...Insha Allaah! Enjoy!

Alaikum salaam warahmathullaah Ya Akhawaat,

Jazzakillaah Khayr sis Umm Suhailah for your loving comments. Yes she had fun. And masha Allaah she knows the continents as we studied about them when we did "Allaah Created Countries and People" as part of the curriculum.

Yes Umm Sara managed to get a good collection of books. Need to arrange them accordingly and plan out reading and activities Insha Allaah soon. We are a bit slow these days because the weather is making us a bit sick and tired Qadarallaah Masha Allaah!

Sis Umm Tafari, it was indeed exciting. But actually when you are inside the Ship the feeling is pretty normal as if you at shop buying books lol! Yes Maimoonah loved the whole experience masha Allaah. Hope you could see the show if you cannot let me know will upload the pictures and give you a link to download insha Allaah

Assalamo alaikum,

The Logos Hope was here in Northern Ireland last year too. I went mad buying books, but when I went home to show my husband he reminded me that these are missionaries and we should not give any money in their cause (they make some profit from the books). SubhanAllah I had completely overlooked this point, but was able to return the next day to refund everything.

My kids really enjoyed the ship though!

Alaikum salaam warahmathullaah sis Umm Salam. Jazzakillaah Khayr for the reminder. I knew about it too. I am not very sure if we should boycott this as I thought and think that scholars have spoken so much against boycotting things from the Jews and the Christians as this does not bring good. But we should do it only if the ruler of the country has told to boycott. So with the little knowledge I have I went ahead with it as I have no other place in this country to get books that I need to educate my daughter and the ruler of this country (as I live in a Muslim Land) has allowed it.

But to be on the safe side if you are having other means then its all the better that you avoid it Insha Allaah.

If you have a fatwa or advise from a scholar anything specific to this please share Insha Allaah.

Jazzaakillaah Khayr for bringing this point out Ukhti!

May Allaah reward you for your Istiqaamah! Aameen

Assalamo alaikum,

Just to clarify I wasn't encouraging boycotting christians or jews per se; but I certainly wouldn't feel good giving my money to those who are purposefully propogating falsehood. The aim of the Logos Groups (they have a couple of ships) is to spread christianity across the world. I only raised this point because I thought you weren't aware of their agenda (like I didn't)

May Allah swt keep us all steadfast, ameen!

Alaikum salaam sis Umm Salam. I understand your point sis. I read a little more about them. Seems like it does go beyond just a charitable organization. I agree with you. I have asked a couple of students of knowledge in this issue will get back to you as soon as I receive something from them. Barakallaah feeki
