Summary - Week 4 - Creations of Allaah - People

This is the summary of week 4 Insha Allaah. Maimoonah was down with flu this week. Running nose and bad cough qadarallaah masha Allaah. But we managed to do most of the curriculum as planned. Did not make her do things that she needs more concentration like reading as she was getting irritated for the slightest thing but insisted she wants to learn!

Creations of Allaah - People
So we spoke about people and countries. You can see the detail post on People and countries here Insha Allaah. We read the Aayah "O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2). Verily, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Aware. (Al-Hujurat 49:13) and continued with the mini workbook. We read this book throughout the week.

We also read the Aqeedah book in which it talks about the Kaafir and Muslim. Also I explained to her the "Ahlul Kitaab" briefly and I could see she is beginning to think lot of things. When I speak about Kaafir and that Allaah will punish them she is feeling very worried for the people. So I had to explain again and again that Allaah is Ar Rahmaan and Ar Raheem and He will reward the people and give them Jannah if they Obey Him and Worship only Him. Then she was settled masha Allaah.

We also continued reading Aadam alaihissalaam but did not do any activities.

Qur'aan Memorization
Alhamdulillaah she has finished Soorah Feel and started on Soorah Maa'oon.

Asmaaul Husna
We learnt a couple of Names of Allaah - "Al Azeez and Al Aleem". Al Azeez we spoke about how mighty Allaah is and if someone is to attack us then we ask Allaah "O Allaah you are Al Azeez Almighty so help us". Then for Al Aleem the explanation said "Allaah knows from where the hair grows and even if a leaf falls from a tree He knows and He is all Knowing. So pasted a couple of hair from Abi's beard and drew a tree and falling leaves". Masha Allaah this way they really undersatnd the meaning of these Attributes.

Writing
Praticed letters "P,N, n and taa and raw." With regard to holding the pencil a sister suggested I make her use chunky crayons to write and masha Allaah even though she is being using crayons from 1 year old I just told her to use the crayons for writing, masha Allaah I could see some difference in holding and writing but I could not take a pic of that since she has cut that a made a book all by herself : )

Reading
I introduced only few new words and did not do reading this week as she was sick. But she wanted me to read a whole heap of books. So we read some Stories of the Prophets and Children books on behavior.

Making Words
We made few words like "First, people, black, white, brown, man, woman" She wanted to make Abi and Ummi on her own this time.

Arabic
We read the books from Arabic First "Book of Jobs" and "Book of People". She already knows all these words but we went through again as it is part of our theme this week Allaah created people.

I just asked a few questions like "If you need to cut your hair, who would you go to? then she said "Hallaaqun" - Barber". "if there is a leak in the bathroom and water is flowing who would you call to help you? she said "Sabbaakun - Plumber". It was fun she enjoyed too. I emphasized Allaah created all of them and taught them different things to do and to help each other.

Then she had a small pretend play saying she is Thabeebah - Doctor in the musthashfa and took papers and wrote the patients' names and called them and etc etc... (She has seen this in the hospitals here while we wait for a long time : )

Maths
Did few chapters on MEP maths. Detail post is here Insha Allaah!

Montessori Activities

Buttoning
The problem now is that whenever she wears a shirt with buttons she keeps removing and trying to button them just to practice her new ability!

That ends our 4th week Masha Allaah

MashaAllah well done, sis.

Sis, im very interested to try Glenn Doman's method for my second child. I used "teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons" for my eldest and it worked well. But i dont think it can work for daughter as it requires the child to sit for about 10-20mins. Did you really follow everything according to the book? I think it mentions to do 3 times per day..How long did each session last?

Jazzaakillaah khayr sis for your comments.

No I did not follow everything according to the book. I did not use flash card. Initially I printed out on A4 sheets words and filed them on a box file and showed her everyday according to her mood and interest. I did not follow the timings and sessions according to the book.

Now I write the words on the white board and show her and I make her read sentences on the white board and later make her read the same sentence on print in the book. I also type on the yahoo messenger and she reads.

Usually the sessions last for about 5 - 10 minutes if she is reading. If I am to flash the words then its about 2-3 minutes.

Hope this helps. How old is your daughter?

My daughter is 3 and half. InshaAllah im intending to use this method for her. MashaAllah, the book is very cheap, from ebay.

Ok masha Allaah since she is 3 plus you can see how she progresses and do the sessions accordingly and make sure to consult her what she likes to read, this will make it interesting Insha Allaah! May Allaah give you success, Aameen!
