Summary - Week 14 - Allaah gives me Sickness and Cure!

Allaah gives me sickness and cure!

This was a very interesting topic masha Allaah!. I am pretty sure I had the Darul Kitab book on "When we are sick" but I guess I have left it back at home as I looked everywhere and its missing, qadarallaah Masha Allaah. So any way we spoke about sickness and how it is only Allaah who gives us sickness and only He can cure us. And doctors medicines are only means and ways but Allaah is the controller.

The Mini Work book for this week Insha Allaah will be ready sooner or later as Sis Umm An Nu'man is busy and I have asked her to take her time. When we do it we will update this post Insha Allaah!

I asked her when we say we are sick what do we mean by it? Then she said "stomoache, headache, fever, cold, sore throat and any pain". Masha Allaah she knows it now. So I asked her why do you think that Allaah is giving you this pain? She thought for a long time and said "That's the way"!!! So I explained to her this hadeeth Any Muslim who is afflicted with the harm of a thorn prick or more will have,as a result of it ,some of his sins expiated the way a tree sheds it's leaves." So I said Allaah is so Merciful to the beleivers that he rewards you when you are sick and when you are patient. I asked her how she could be patient when she is sick. She was saying by resting and lying down. smile! Then I aexplained that being patient is coping the pain and asking Allaah to cure you and going through the hardship without complaining and only praising Allaah for all His Mercy and Kindness.

Then We spoke about Allaah's Attribute Ash Shaafee The Curer and that only He can cure.

We learnt the Dua to be said while in pain and the dua to be said to the one who is sick.

We learnt the that it is an obligation upon a Muslim to visit the sick Muslim and angels send prayers upon you when you visist the sick.

We also read this nice digital book "Sajjaad is Sick"

We learnt that most of the time it is germs that make us sick by the permission of Allaah. So the best way to avoid germs coming on to us is to wash our hands before and after we do certain things. We used this for learning and doing some activities. Masha Allaah she is very particular about washing hands and does it at right times. But as a study I just showed her how she could improve on this by rubbing the hands and washing properly so that the germs go away. She loves playing with water just like all the other kids!!!

We spoke about germs and also good germs like fungi in mashroom, bread and yogurt. Then we took a piece of old bread and wiped our hand on that before washing our hands and put it in a bag and observed every day waiting for the germs to form.

Then we discussed when we should wash our hands.

Then came the most intersting thing for Maimoonah. We spoke about Hospitals and the people who help us there to get well when we are sick. We went through this Picture and Word book where it has all the pictures and words related to the Hospital.

She coloured these.

Then I had bought a small doctor playing lit sometime back and this week I opened up and gave it to her. She was overjoyed masha Allaah. So taugh her the names of the instruments that were there and also taught her to read them. Then gave her to do this matching game.

She enjoyed this the whole day and now she could read these words if I put them into sentences.

Then we did a pretend play. She was the doctor and I was the patient. She wrote down my name and illness on the medical record. Tested me with her stethoscope and gave me some pills and put some nose drops too... This whole week she was playing with it and her stuffed toys.

Then we did this activity. Gave her 10 small bags and beads and marker.

Asked her to write the numbers 1 - 10 on each bag.

And then I asked her to fill the bag with the pills (beads) with the corresponding number on the bag. Here are filled bags.

She really enjoyed the counting and packing and giving medicine to the patients.

Asmaaul Husnah

We learnt Ash Shafee and Al Afuww. Ash Shafee we could not get the writing to paste, but will so soon Insha Allaah. But we learnt the meaning.

Aqeedah
Continueing with "Muhammadur Rasoolullaah" She knows the full name of the Prophet masha Allaah.

Maths
We did MEP and this workbook throughout the week. This is the first time I have asked her to draw certain things according to the MEP instruction book. She drew a duck, fish, bird etc ... They really do not look like them but for her age it does smile! She was so happy of this acheievement masha Allaah! And loved the worksheets too. Matching and cordination of the hands have improved masha Allaah!

Reading, writing, Language
Masha Allaah this week she wanted to write more and asked me to put dots for two pages. (We have moved and arranged our settings to suite her learning masha Allaah, will post more in detail on that later Insha Allaah, so we can see a big difference in her enthusiasm and productivity masha Allaah. Environment for kids really matters subhanallaah). She writes letters and keeps writing "Abi, Maimoonah, Ummi, Allaah". I could not take a pic of that as she writes and over writes. Will try to get one soon one of these days Insha Allaah!

She has been reading these two books this week to me and I have been reading to her Ayyoob alaihissalaam to go along with the topic that Allaah gave him sickness and he was patient.

Her reading is masha Allaah good and she also reads the TJ powerpoint presentations now. She could read this.

Arabic
We wrote pasted and learnt these letters. Also I did not introduce new words from the word flow this week as we were busy with shifting.
