Prophets Sent by Allaah - Aadam Alaihissalaam

Alhamdulillaah finallay we started our study on the Prophets. Insha Allaah from now onwards we will be having a series of activities on "Prophets sent by Allaah"(These posts will be posted under the Label "Prophets Sent By Allaah") in which we will try to cover all 25 Prophets mentioned in the Quraan. For this we will use the Darus Salaam Prophets Sent by Allaah series of books along with Ibn Katheer's "Stories of the Prophet" Insha Allaah!

Also we will use a botany book where we will use the "Prophet Facts Sheet" from Talibiddeenjr and record important facts about that particular Prophet, then paste pictures relevant to the study, have some worksheets and questions written or pasted for oral use and later for writing purpose Insha Allaah! I want this book to be used by Maimoonah even in her later years when she develops more understanding and comprehension and also writing skills. First I thought I will just make a scrap book but later as always I wanted this to be a resource that could be used for many years therefore I decided to make this a pre school/middle, elementary school friendly resource Insha Allaah. We will be also doing some hands on activities Insha Allaah.

So to start with we learnt "Aadam Alaihissalaam" this week. Unfortunately Qadarallaah Masha Allaah we could not get the copy of the Darus Salam on Aadam Alaihissalaam. So we used the Darul Kitab Book on Aadam alaihissalaam and My First Qur'aan Stories and Stories of the Prophets of Ibn Katheer.

We read and spoke about Aadam and Hawwa and Iblees and all what happened to them. Just explained to her that Aadam alaihissalaam was 60 cubits tall. I enjoyed reading Ibn Katheer's book as it tells little little explanations and incidents like how Shaitaan use to pass by Aadam tapping him and going through him before the spirit was blown into him, the hadeeth about the snake etc, etc.

Our First page has the picture of the tree with all 25 names of the Prophet from easel and ink. Then we pasted this fact sheet and wrote down some points: Name, father, mother, children. We spoke a little about Haabil and Qaabil too.

I typed out some questions and pasted on one side so that we can check her comprehension orally every now and then. This helps children to keep things in mind. I have heard one of the scholars saying something to the effect that asking questions after learning is the best way of learning and revising masha Allaah! She could answer all of these questions masha Allaah at the end of the study.

Also I pasted a worksheet that I got from salafyink but right now I cannot get connected to their website. So in case any of you need the pdf of this worksheet please email me I will send you insha Allaah. This worksheet I intend to keep it for Maimoonah Insha Allaah for later use. But I used this for oral use for now. Also I pasted this wonderful set of questions that I got from here. I liked this kind of approach and this will be really useful for older children Insha Allaah!

Then Maimoonah traced this.

We learnt Allaah created Aadam alaihissalaam by taking different kind of soil from all over the earth and that is one reason that each one of us are different in colour. So just to make her interested we did this different color matching activity from yemenilinks. This was totally her effort. She coloured, cut, pasted independently.

Also we revised the "Allaah created all of us" mini book and the little book on "Allaah created countries and people" we made sometime back. Talked about people who are all children of Aadam.

Finally we got this story sequencing cards from here and together we read and Maimoonah put them in order. This was a great reading practice too. Masha Allaah her reading was good I hope she continues with this bi idhnillaah!

Jazakillah for this post. We have been using Darus Salaam's Prophet Adam book with the children. The also cannot believe how tall Adam (AS) was Masha-Allah.
Love your idea of creating a "Prophet Book" for future reference.
