So now that we have come to the end of our Pre School Curriculum, I am browsing the net these days to see what I should do for the next whole year with Maimoonah. As always I went into Sis Umm Ibraheem's site and found some useful tips and Alhamdulillaah I was content that I have something to look forward to and guide me through out the next year's curriculum Insha Allaah!
May Allaah reward sis Umm Ibraheem for all her sharing. I always consider her as my big sister who is always there to help us out in every where when it comes to home-schooling. She is such an asset and may Allaah make all her efforts Sadaqah Jaariyah. Aameen.
Here is the link for that page and Insha Allaah.
I will be thinking on these lines for the next year for Maimoonah. I feel Maimoonah falls into this category after Ramadhaan as she will be 4 years Insha Allaah. So what do you think? I need your naseehah sisters who are teachers and home educators with experience, please let me know if I am on the right track Insha Allaah. All your comments and suggestions are always welcome and whatever I do for the next year (curriculum and lesson plans) will be available for you for download as usual free of charge Insha Allaah! : )

As Salaamu Alaikum
Umm Maimoonah did you ever do an assessment with Maimoonah? Maybe you should take some time to see what level she is on- with the common prek skills....and then that may guide you into knowing where she stands- I dunno but what I recall in public school they usually do test at the end of the school year to see if that child should move forward- so perhaps Maimoonah should move forward but don't forget to review what you taught and see her strengths and weakness - (this is my idea) I'm not a pro or anything- but I think assessments can help you decide what to focus more on :) I hope this helps Baraka'Allaahu'Feekum
Alaikum salaam Umm Suhailah
Yes Insha Allaah assessment is on my schedule Insha Allaah! I have planned to have it end of the curriculum and file and keep it Insha Allaah!
What I mean by assessment is not test papers given in schools as I think that testing children at this age is stressful learning and it hinders their development as they love learning through play. So I am not for test papers, but I want to assess her through her activities and see where she stands Insha Allaah. There are many stuff on assessment standards available on the net. Want to go through and get a suitable one Insha Allaah!
Thanks for the naseehah! How do you do this assessment with your kids so far?
Barakallaah Feeki?
Assalam u alaikum
I was thinking y dont u introduce see rah after the Islamic preschool curriculum?
Bismillaah
I usually do flash cards/ computer program or some kind of game to see what they know- like with the Your Baby Can Read vocab- I let Susu and Yara read the book to me- and every other word they learned I make flash cards and they tell me what they know. Or the abc's- I make them sing it- then they did a computer program or flash cards- my girls are too young to do "traditional" test. So I do things like find computer programs- maybe the keep the computer on mute- and tell on themselves lol whether they know it or not- by yelling out the right/wrong answers. I hope this helps- Hey I like starfall lol- do you have the full membership for Maimoonah?
Alaikum salaam warahmathullaah!
Ummi Subuhana yes Insha Allaah good idea. I was thinking as soon as I finish all the Prophets I will do the Seerah of our Prophet with Maimoonah Insha Allaah!
Umm Suhailah, No I do not have full membership at starfall. Do they have such a thing? I did not know. If so I would like to since most of their stuff are without music!
Bismillaah
Yes they have a full membership for $35 for 365 days Inshaa'Allaah. I think you will like it as an Ummi and I think Maimoonah will enjoy- they have previews you can access before you purchase. Let me know what you think.
Assalamu alaykum sis..
i am not experienced enough to make any comments or suggestions. you know i have just started homeschooling. but i do want that you would find a suitable curriculum for your child and also for our children.have you seen the ad-duha curriculum? it may help you when you will make curriculum for thenext year. the link is here http://www.ad-duha.org/html/level_b__recommended_for_1st_o.html
it seems they started giving the full version of their materials online for free.
May Allah help you in your search and make everything easy for you.Ameen
Hey Umm Suhailah I have such a dumb all these days lol! I just discovered the full membership. I think I like it and there is a lot of things to do except for the songs and music I guess. But Maimoonah will like it Insha Allaah! So will subscribe for it soon Insha Allaah! Have you subscribed?
Thanks for the info, actually Maimoonah is pretty bored with the ordinary star fall stuff and that is the only on-line this she goes to, so this will be a good change Insha Allaah!. Jazzakillaah Khayr!
Busy mama and two busy bees, I do not know what happened to your comment as I do not see any more here. Any way I am responding to you as I have the notification email, Jazzakillaah Khayr for your suggestion. I will look into Ad Duha curriculum and see how I could fit in Insha Allaah. Jazzakillaah Khayr for the link.
Bismillaah
I didn't get starfall full membership yet- but I want it! Did you look at the free features before you decide to buy it?
If you get it before I do- perhaps you can do a review- I wanted to do a review for those interested in it. Let me know what you think.
Really looking forward to knowing your thoughts :)
Yes Umm Suhailah, I looked into to it. Seems ok and there are few music in the back ground in some stuff but I guess its very minimum and can do more activities if I subscribe Insha Allaah! Will let you know how it goes. Here is another online free site with no music. Check it out. I feel it is not child friendly as starfall but if we explore and sit with the kids its useful. I am still exploring. Let me know what you think. A sister from Ihsaan forum gave me this link.
