People of the Ditch!

Maimoonah is memorizing Soorah Burooj now and wanted to know the meaning. Alhamdulillaah this was such a wonderful learning experience for both of us.

So we read the meaning of the aayah and then I read to her the Tafseer of the Soorah. I had an old kid's magazine and I used that to relate the story to Maimoonah and she could read it too.

Maimoonah was filled with tears from the beginning to the end and subhanallaah such a wonderful way to instil Tawheed upon kids. This was a long discussion and Maimoonah really starting liking this boy she in fact told me "Ummi I love this boy for the sake of Allaah"!

Some points we spoke about were:
  • The Boy's curiosity to learn the truth
  • The Courage of the Boy - He tested the truth by killing a lion
  • The Love he had for Tawheed
  • He was kind and taught the dheen of Allaah wisely to his Mushrik people
  • His Trust in Allaah. He asked only Allaah to save him from the harm of the King
  • He was so brave that he went back to the King after Allaah saved him twice and did not run away.
  • He was ready to give away his life in order to make his people believe in Allaah.
  • It is a miracle of Allaah that the baby spoke and asked the mother not to hesitate.

At the end of the story there were few questions and I asked Maimoonah to give me the answers. And we discussed the answers too. Then I asked her what would she have done if she was there at that time. Alhamdulillaah she said "I would have not disbelieved but jumped into the fire because Allaah would give me Jannah, Ummi like he gave the boy and all those who were put into the Fire, Jannah".

Then I asked her to draw a ditch and fire and write something about the boy. This is what she drew and wrote.

mashaAllah. SubhanAllah, what a story...
we have got this book (people of the ditch)in Arabic. I printed it off from that website where we printed off all Arabic story books. Likewise, myself and the girls were touched to read this story and when the boy died in the end.....a great story to read and reread many times and great lessons to be learnt.

Umm Sumayya, really I did not know they had this story in Arabic over there, I put the link but I am yet to download and print those Arabic Stories, I was waiting for ink! Insha Allaah I will look into that and download. Jazzakillaah Khayr for sharing! Yes for sure there is a huge difference between true stories said by Allaah and His Messenger and the stories made up by man, subhanallaah! Isn't it so pleasing to know that we have such wonderful stories told by our Lord to cultivate our kids! Indeed Islaam is so perfect!
