Sewing Saturday - Bean Bag and Back Stitch

So another Saturday! and this week we learnt the Back Stitch. As usual with the Help of You Tube both of us watched how to sew back stitch.

Took a piece of cloth and asked Maimoonah to stitch along the line the back stitch, with little help she could do this masha Allaah. All of the stitches are her's except for one I think. The pics show both sides of the stitch.

Now that she knows a bit of back stitch we attempted to make a bean bag using the back stitch. The idea I got from here. We took two pieces of material.

Using the back stitch we stitched all around except for one side. Maimoonah stitched one side fully and the remaining I did.

This is how it looks after completing. You can see both sides here Insha Allaah! (The tutorial says to stitch this on the sewing machine, since we do not have one we used the back stitch)

Then she filled it with rice.

After she filled I stitched and sealed the bag. This is how it looks!

So she got a nice bean bag and so thrilled about it. Still hugging on to it and playing with it lol!

She wanted to sew a ducky out of her embroidery card.

Alaikum salaam Umm Suhailah!

Yes I guess she would have mastered the sewing machine if she was with my mom! When she was about 1 and half 2 years she was sitting on the sewing machine and giving my mom a tough time : )

Guess what I am enjoying sewing too these days even though my palms are still sweating!!!

As salaam alaikum,

I really like that you use whatever you have around the house.
