Sewing Saturdays! - Sewing Buttons

Today we learnt how to sew buttons. We are still out of resources and the shopping is still pending, can you believe it?! Any way I thought cannot go on like this and we better do something this Saturday.

We used the play buttons and did the needful!!! We watched this video  and then got on with it.
Again since we have no proper materiel yet, we used Maimoonah's shawl and stitched on that!!

Then I was so impressed with sister Imaan at making Memories and wanted to try something before I get on to it full time Insha Allaah when I get the things. Jazzakillaah Khayr sis Imaan for the inspiration and I am sure other will find it benefit ting too. This is something called Sashiko a Japanese stitching you can see here and here at Making Memories Insha Allaah. Basically in this you use running stitch and that was one reason I thought Maimoonah would be able to do it. So I just drew this using a pencil and a ruler.

And asked her to stitch the running stitch and complete. With little help she was able to do it Alhamdulillaah!

And this is how it looked after completion!

oh, what a journey mashAllah. it looks so cute too!!!
I remember going to sewing classes when I was little. It is very common back home for girls to start sewing at young age. InshaAllah something we will have to try with the girls too. JazakAllah for post, ummSumayya.
