Painting Fun!

Masha Allaah sometime back Maimoonah learnt to use water colours.

Abi taught her how to hold a brush and use water colours.

This is how she learnt how to paint.

Masha Allaah she learnt fast and painted the picture Abi drew.

Here are some of her paintings. This is a colouring book I had. It shows a painted picture and asks the child to use the same colours and paint. We did not interfere in this. She chose the right colours and painted them.

Floating Book Fair

The World's largest Floating Book Fair is here in Doha Port. It is the "Logos Hope" Ship that is here with 7000 odd titles.

We had to park our vehicle at the entrance of the port and a bus takes all the visitors into the ship. It was a great experience for Maimoonah, more than getting on the ship she was excited about travelling in a bus.

Then masha Allaah we got a huge collection of toddler pre school books for a very cheap cost. I had to take the opportunity and get them because we do not have libraries here. So this was indeed an opportunity not to be missed! Here are some of the books we got.

Maimoonah saw the "Noddy" books there and actually started sitting on the floor and reading it lol! I just could not click a picture of her doing this as my phone was away from me..

Any wat here are the pics we took ...Insha Allaah! Enjoy!

Summary - Week 10 - What is the Qur'aan?

What is the Qur'aan?

Masha Allaah for this topic we used this from Talibiddeenjr. This made things very much easier for me masha Allaah.

I explained to her the "Books of Allaah" sent to the Messengers. We spoke about Tauraat, Zaboor and Injeel. We also spoke about the Ahlul Kitaab. She remembered that they were Jews and the Christains as we studied a bit about them when we did "Allaa created People". Then I told her that they changed their books and finally Allaah sent down the Qur'aan as the final Book to all the people. And also explained to her that Allaah will take care of it and will not allow people to change it. Maimoonah has a habit of just reciting from here and there and her own things saying that she is memorizing a new soorah which she does not know. I have been telling her many times not to do so but to recite only what she knows. Learning about the Qur'aan helped me make a point to her and Alhamdulillaah reciting unknown stuff had stopped for awhile now. smile!

Then I told her the story of the revelation. We spoke about Muhammed visiting the cave and Angel Jibreel saying Iqra' and how the messenger could not read or write. She was shocked how come Muhammad our messenger did not know to read or write. We spoke about the Messenger running to Khadeejah radiyallaahu anha and asking her to cover him. And how well she comforted him and etc etc. Masha Allaah we have been talking about this for the whole week and now she knows this part of the story well.

She wants to go and see Cave Hirah when we go for Umrah she says Insha Allaah. She did not know what a cave is and we saw a power point presentation on caves with pictures and she got an idea how a cave would look.

I gave her a mushaf to her hand. Showed and explained to her the pages, soorahs, Juzz and places of sajdah. I showed her all the soorahs she has memorized. You can see her inspecting.

We went to the Masjid and there were many different Mushaf there and I asked her to go through them while I was praying.

Then we printed out a small Qur'aan Quiz and put it on our board and masha Allaah she knows all those answers for the quiz now. If you enlarge this picture you can see the questions Insha Allaah!

We spoke about handling the Mushaf and also how much care the Sahabah took in memorizing the aayaahas and later compiling into a mushaf. Learning the names of the Ummhaatul Mu'mineen and the Asharathul Mubashsharah came in handy here as I could just mention to her that during the rule of Aboo Bakr radhiyallaahu anhu the Qur'aan was complied as a book. She asked me during Aboo Bakr As Siddeeq? and she had a smile on her face which tells me "Ummi I know him". Masha Allaah!

We did this activity on the book. She coloured this, identified the letters in Arabic and English. Counted the letters and traced them too.

Then we read this wonderful book from Daarul Kitab..

We learnt about the Greatest Aayah of the Qur'aan Aayathul Kursi and the story of Abu Hurairah and Shitaan stealing and teaching him Aayathul Kursi. This was a fascinating story for her masha Allaah. And she understood better why she recites it before going to sleep every day.

We read the Tafseer of Soorah Feel and did Elephant related activities which can be viewed here Insha Allaah.

Qur'aan Memorization
To go along with the topic she is memorizing "Soorah Al Alaq". She has finished half of it Insha Allaah will continue to learn the rest of it next week.

Aqeedah
Continuing with the Basic Principles we discussed a bit more on the meaning of "Laa ilaaha illallaah". We read Usooluth Thalaathah too.

Asmaaul Husnah
We learnt two more Names " Adh Dhaahir and Al Baatin.

Reading, Writing, Language

She traced this

Abi got a her a tracing Mat, and we practice letters very often on this now...

We have been reading the Darul Kitab book on Manners of Reciting the Qur'aan and she has been reading some power point presentations that I have downloaded in par with Glenn Doman's methods. Masha Allaah her reading has improved a lot but very much more to go...

Maimoonah now has mouse control and is enjoying language online activities. She has been visiting starfall and fisher so far. I am in the process of choosing online activities which does not have any unislamic elements Insha Allaah.

Montessori Activities
Sorting

Her Abi got this 150 wooden shape pieces from Toys R Us here and masha Allaah very good quality and many things to do. This time asked her to spend some time and sort them according to shapes and put then inside.

Maths
Continueing with MEP we learnt how to count up tp 6 using fingers and did these chapters.

Arabic
We are using this wipe and clean book which I got from a local printing place for a very cheap price to practice Arabic Letters.

We learnt few other Arabic words and meaning from the Madeenah books vocabulary.

That's the summary Insha Allaah!

Bicycle!

Alhamdulillaah Maimoonah finally got a bicycle today. She has been wanting one for about seven months or so now and today she got it masha Allaah. She was so happy and even said "Maimoonah asked dua from Allaah on Friday and Allaah gave her a bicycle" . In fact she has been asking dua this Friday too...sitting next to her Abi..

Abi took her to the shop and made her try out the bicycle and asked her if she liked this particular one or would she like to go around and look for another. She was pretty content with this one masha Allaah.

She tried it out a bit on the road while bringing it home. Then she was riding it at home. Abi has told her when she learns how to ride it a bit more she can take downstairs Insha Allaah soon.

She learnt pretty fast masha Allaah and was so grateful. Every now and then you can see and hear her saying "Thank You Allaah for the bicycle".. Kisses her Abi and says "Jazzakallaah Khayr for the bicycle Abi" comes around me and says "Ummi Abi bought me a bicycle, Masha Allaah now Maimoonah has a bicycle!!" smile!

So I am sure these few days are going to be bicycle bicycle lots of hugs, kisses and so on... masha Allaah. Indeed a blessing to see her so happy and with all that happiness keeps thanking her Lord and her parents. Children are upon the Fitra and may Allaah keep them upon it Aameen.

All about Elephants!

As part of our topic of the Curriculum "What is the Qur'aan" We learnt the Tafseer of Soorah Feel. Maimoonah loves elephants so I chose this Soorah and we read the Tafseer and learnt the Story of Abraha trying to destroy the Ka'ba along with his Army. She was so happy that the Feel "Mahmood" refused to get up and go towards Makkah inspite of Abraha beating it and forcing it. She was saying "Sweet Mahmood Ummi". smile!

This was a very interesting story to her and she enjoyed it well masha Allaah.

Then we learnt a little bit about elephants. Read the encylopedia. This set of DK's First Referance for Young Readers and Writers Encyclopedia I got it from a door to door seller who was giving it for half the price.

Masha Allaah pictures are nice and illustrations are short. Maimoonah enjoys these books. I see her going through them on her own when she gets into some mood.

We printed out this Elephant Quiz Sheet. She coloured the two kinds of elephants "African and Asian". Learnt the body parts of the elephants and since we read about elephants I asked her questions and she answered and I wrote it down.

We made this small "Elephant Fact book" which we got from here. This is a lapbook but I thought I will keep this for future Insha Allaah as Maimoonah is too small for all the contents. So I wrote some facts on the book and she could read most of the contents on her own. There were some new words and Insha Allaah she would master those soon.

Then we watched this slide show and saw elephants in action..

Then we also got this worksheet and made her do the "dot to dot". I had tried this dot to dot before but she did not show much interest but this time she was interested and was thrilled to see the trunk as she finished.

Then she painted the picture with water colours.

She enjoyed putting together this elephant puzzle too.

Finally we made this Elephant Craft from here. I took a black and white print out first but there was a size difference. So I also took a coloured print out. We made the Coloured Print out elephant together. This is how it looks.

Then she wanted to do the black and white on her own without my help. Masha Allaah she did it well. Only thing she did not want to do was to cut as she said its difficult for her to cut the curves properly. So I cut and gave it to her. Masha Allaah this showed me how much she has got control of things now and she is indeed growing. Her confidence is growing too bi idhnillaah.

This is how her craft looks.

So that was it about elephants for now but talking of elephants is still continuing especially "Mahmood".. smile!

Look out for the summary of week 10 soon Insha Allaah.

Teaching Children Tawheed

Masha Allaah I just finished reading this book and Subhanallaah a wealth of information for parents. I think every mother should read this book and you will know how much our predecessors' (salaf) took care in teaching children that which is pleasing to Allaah alone.

The contents of the book brought tears and masha Allaah made me think so much about how I am responsible to educate my daughter and I was so thankful to Allaah for home schooling. Sisters surely worth reading, try to get hold of a copy and read Insha Allaah. Here is the link as to how you could get this book Insha Allaah! http://salafiyyah-kuwait.blogspot.com/p/teaching-children-tawheed.html
