Inheritors of the Prophets - Scrap Book - Umar bin Abdul Azeez

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

This is the knowing our scholars series of lessons that we hope to do through scrapbooking.

Main Resources we are using for this study are the following:

What we hope to cover for each scholar if these details are available Inshaa Allaah.

1. Name of the Scholar
2. Time Period
3. His Parents
4. Place of Birth - Map
5. Childhood - Tarbiyyah
6. Countries he travelled to seek ilm - Route on Map
7  His teachers
8. The books he Studied
9. Trials
10. The Books he authored
11. His Students
12. His Characteristics
13. Death and Place of death - Map

So this is the cover of the Scrapbook.

Explained to her the hadeeth that you see on the cover.

We learnt about scholars and what do they do. We used this poem and  and this one  and pasted on the scrapbook. Discussed about the fact that we are ordered by Allaah to ask those who know and shun ignorance in the dheen of Allaah. And this is where the Ulama are very important.

Umar Bin Abdul Azeez
So we started with the 2nd Century scholars after the Sahabah (as we are already doing another scrapbook on sahabahs any way) and from them we choose Umar bin Abdul Azeez.

We discussed about his character, his justice, how young he was when he memorised the Qur'aan and the fact that he used to fear death and cry even when he was a young child. The interesting fact was that the wolves did not harm the sheep during his rule due to his justice and this was something amazing for Maimoonah that she kept repeating it to everyone. Its so fascinating that we have such wonderful true characters in Islaam where we can continue discussions upon discussions, subhanallaah and indeed talking about them and reading their marvelous God fearing characters and incidents can only be a great influence for the Tarrbiyah of our children.

We read his biography and chose important facts from it. Then with her help I typed on Word and printed them out. Then she pasted them on the scrapbook and decorated.

I have also taught her tracing and she likes the idea. So asked her to trace this map and mark Umar bin Abdul Azeez's birth place, place where he studied, the city of his Khilaafah and the place of death.

Some pictures are not clear Inshaa Allaah will upload the document we did soon so that you can see the contents clearly and those who wish to use it can use with their kids as well. You can download the document we used for the scrapbook here.

So that ends Umar bin Abdul Azeez. Inshaa Allaah we will go on with the next scholar soon.

You can also read more here. Found this after we completed this study.
