Menstruating Women - Seeking for Laylathul Qadr

Question:
What are the actions that a woman who is on her menses, the actions she might perform while she is looking for lailatul qadr?

Answer:

Oh my daughter, have glad tidings and give glad tidings to the others; your sisters in Islaam the daughters of the sunnah, those that follow the sunnah.

That the woman who is in her menses she is allowed to do all things that are legislated for the men and the women that are out of their menses except for fasting and praying.  Besides that, he said, you know and you should teach the other sisters in Islaam, that the woman, the Muslim woman, is allowed to stand in lailatul qadr or establish in lailatul qadr: the recitation of the quraan, and making dua supplication to Allaah for all that is good, as well as istighfaar seeking Allaah's forgiveness, and takbeer saying Allaahu Akbar and tasbeeh saying SubhaanAllaah, and tahmeed saying Alhumdulillaah and saying also laa illaaha illAllaah and the other forms of remembrance and dhikr. The shaikh while he was handing me the mic reminded us of the statement that the Prophet (sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam) used to say while looking for lailatul qadr

"Oh Allaah you are the Pardoner and the giver of asylum, so Pardon me because you love to Pardon."

And he said that you should know that any person that is kept back, and prevented from doing what is better for them from performing righteous actions, any person who is prohibited or a matter comes between them and these righteous actions due to a legislated excuse then this person should know that if they have the right intention and they have a strong will to come closer to Allaah and to better themselves with prayers or fasting or with whatever action it might be, whoever has an excuse a legislated excuse and has that strong will and that strong intention then they should know that Allaah Writes the aj'ar or benefits or reward  for them. This is as we find in the hadeeth of the Prophet  (sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam) when he was travelling with some of the sahaba on a path to the battlefield where he said that,

" There are a people in Madeenah from your brothers, that you don't pass any mountain, and you don't go through any valley except that they, your brothers in Madeenah are with you in the aj'ar, in the reward and benefits, that you are gathering the good deeds that you are gathering by going out in the path of Allaah, the only thing that stopped them meaning your brothers in Madeenah the only thing that stopped them and came between them in being with you is a legislated Islaamic excuse."

So the person should understand that very well the shaikh said.

Ramadhaan Activities 2012 - Days 17 - 20

Ramadhaan Verbs
I was suprised Maimoonah could read the verbs well Alhamdulillaah. Arabic drilling has paid off by the permission and mercy of Allaah. I know lot more to go, but I now notice that she is ready to learn more on Arabic and loves it this way. So we got to do more next year Inshaa Allaah. She did all the activities on the Ramadhaan Verbs.

 

Umrah in Ramadhaan
It was only last year we were blessed to perform Umrah in Ramadhaan and this activity brought back wonderful memories Maashaa Allaah. She did the cut and paste activity. Remembered all what we did last year and how we spent the last 10 days in Makkah. Discussed about the merits of making Umrah during Ramadhaan.

Laylathul Qadr
We used the TJ powerpoint presentation on Laylathul Qadr and learnt about it. Read soorah Qadr and the meaning and discussed about the signs of the Night of Decree, and memorized the dua to be said on that night and the things we can do to earn the pleasure of Allaah.

She painted this picture. We used crayons and water colour pencils.

Taraaweeh/Qiyaamul Layl
She has been praying Taraaweeh every night from day one of Ramadhaan Alhamdulillaah. So we spoke about the Qiyaam of the Messenger of Allaah sallaahu Alaihiwasallaam and the manner it should be prayed and the reward for it. Discussed about the number of Rakah.

Ramadhaan Activities 2012 - Days 15 & 16

All about Dates
We did this last year as well, but Maimoonah enjoyed this year too. We read about the hadeeth of the dates and discussed.

Googled and found out about the health benefits of Dates and recorded all on the Ramadhaan Activity Pack  Dates Fact Sheet.

She then made a collage of the date palm tree. We used construction paper and an old brown paper bag.

And she enjoyed making this little date box and gifted it to Abi with ajwa dates in it.

 

The Battle of Badr
We read from the Sealed Nectar all about the Battle of Badr. Subhanallaah as usual it was an eemaan booster for me as well. Such a wonderful thing always to read about the courage and faith of the sahabah, innalhamdalillaah.

Sewing little Purses
This was something she really enjoyed doing. She was happy to sew after a long time.

I asked her to read all what you need to sew and keep them ready on the desk. She choose the colours.

We drew the circle and I cut and put some marks around. Then she stitched along the marks and did well.

We made 4 little purses.

This one is for herself.

And two are gifts and one will go as charity. All purses are filled with money and charity purse is filled with her money.

Ramadhaan Activities 2012 - Days 11 - 14

A Letter to Grandma
She wrote a letter to her Grandma saying about her Ramadhaan so far. She really liked the envelope and the whole process.

The Letter says'
Dear Ummmama, Assalaamu Alaikum. How are you? How is Ramadan? I am fine. I am praying. I fasted 11. I go for Tarawih   to the Masjid. I pray 11 rakahs. I miss you, I will come to see you soon Insha Allaah. Love Maimoonah!

 

Hadeeth on Fasting
We read the hadeeth and memorised it. We discussed the blessings of Ramadhaan and about the gate Rayyan in Jannah where the people who fasted will be called to enter from Inshaa Allaah. Then she did the Grammar activities. It was a good revision for her and Alhamdulillaah it was also an assurance for me that she has understood the rules and remembers them.

Fasting of the Ill and the Traveller
We discussed about the fast of an ill person and a traveller and the fact that how much Merciful our Rabb is that he does not want to give hardship for us. We also discussed the hadeeth, revised who a narrator of a hadeeth is and briefly explained how a hadeeth reaches us.

 

Treasure Map and Treasure Hunt
This was really fun for her. She independently finished the Treasure Map activities.

Then I drew the floor plan of the house and gave her a sheet of paper with all the instructions to find the treasure. I usually do not give her all the gifts and toys she gets at once, rather I collect and keep and give on and off. I also had a wonderful set of books that a dear sister gifted. So Alhamdulillaah I had a collection of gifts and I could use all of them for the treasure hunt. I hid in different places and wrote the instructions accordingly and she found all the treasures Alhamdulillaah. She was so shocked at times to find things inside the washing Machine and laundry bag, lol, but she got the message "Follow Instructions and you will succeed Inshaa Allaah".

 

 

   

Ramadhaan Activities 2012 - Day 9 & 10

Suhoor - Colouring
We spoke about the hadeeth that say about the blessings of Suhoor and the time for suhoor. She read the Arabic words on the colouring page and coloured them.

Good Deeds

We learnt that doing good deeds in Ramadhaan brings more rewards and read the two Darul Kitab Books on Doing Good Deeds and Good Manners. This time I asked her to read and tell me all the good deeds she read about and to talk about each one of them and we discussed the deeds she usually do and the deeds that she needs to improve on Inshaa Allaah.

Then we also used the Box Manners and I asked her to sort out the deeds she has done and the deeds that she has not. So she had sorted them and I saw 3 cards on the side deeds not done. They were visiting a sick, keeping away from things that does not concern you and thinking good of others. I knew she has not understood what they are except for visiting the sick which we have not done with her for sometime now. Then we explained to her the meaning of those deeds. This way I could understand more about her deeds as well as she could recognize the deeds she does. We reminded her all deeds are done only to please Allaah alone.

 

Then our Good Deed tree looks like this so far.

 Alhamdulillaah today she forgot that she was fasting and she had drunk few sips of water and later she told me. And she said she knew it was Allaah who fed her and when she remembered she quickly stopped drinking. Alhamdulillaah she already knew what to do if things happen. I am happy that it happened this way bi idhnillaah as she could put into practice what she learnt.
