Learn the Beautiful Names of Allaah

 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Many of us love to teach our little ones the Asmaaul Husna or the Beautiful Names of Allaah. However, we find it hard to instil the true meanings of the Names of Allaah to a little child. Probably because the information out there maybe not authentic or does not meet the level of the child.

Learning the Names of Allaah should not be restricted to memorising the Names and knowing the translated meanings of it, rather it should be a study that aids the child to preserve and act upon the meaning of those Names of Allaah. Indeed this is a noble branch of knowledge in Islaam and has a high status.

So how would you teach the Names of Allaah? Are you considering to limit it to colouring pages? Good idea, however, will that help the child to understand the meaning the beautiful Names? Will the child understand the difference between the Names of Allaah and other names? Will you be able to give a clear and simple explanation which meets the level of the child without confusing and putting doubts into the little minds about the Names of Allaah? How would you make sure the child lives the understanding of the Names in order to benefit from that knowledge?

These are the challenges we face in imparting this noble branch of knowledge.

I invite you and your children ages 6 - 10 to join me for 10 weeks online course to learn 40 Names of Allaah like never before by the permission of Allaah.

We will be providing a digital study guide explaining the Names of Allaah along with interactive workbooks and the children will complete Lapbooks to understand their learning. All activities are designed to instil the meanings of Allaah to be lived and implemented.

We have been able to simplify the explanations of the Names of Allaah with cute illustrations based on Shaykh Uthaimeen's (raheemahullaah) Explanation of the Names of Allaah from the translated work of our noble brother Abu Talha Daawood Burbank (May Allaah have mercy upon his soul and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaws) with the kind permission of his children. May Allaah make this a continuous charity for him. Aameen.

Additionally, as always, these workbooks and study guides are edited, checked and reviewed by a student of knowledge. So we make sure that this noble branch of knowledge imparted to your children is only from authentic sources checked and verified and not our own words or thoughts or explanations.

Allaah is the Creator - Free Download

 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

We have been silent in the space for a while. Alhamdulillaah we have been busy with transitions. Children are growing, and their needs are different. And by the grace of Allaah and your support, our online courses and online digital products are growing and reaching many families and communities.

We hope we can continue to blog and share our journey and resources with you all regularly Inshaa Allaah.

We are here today to share a simple activity we did when Ramlah when she was 3 years. She is almost 5 now, and she loves to do this activity.

This is a little book that can be used for instilling Tawheed Ar Ruboobiyah the Lordship of Allaah, early reading, read aloud, memory game, copy-work or copywriting, writing and much more.

You may read the sentences first even with a 2-year-old. And then explain about Allaah being Al Khaaliq. You can also use the little cards to enhance vocabulary and show the kids the images when you are reading, emphasising that Allaah is the Creator who created everything.

You may have all the little images in a basket and ask the child to match the images in the little box provided as and when you read a sentence. This can work as a memory game too.

Older kids can draw images and have some art fun. You can also use stickers or pictures and get the children to cut and paste. It is designed so that it's easy for you to tweak as per your child's capability.

Once this is done, you can continue to use it for reading and read aloud. The children who are learning to read via Glenn Doman's Reading Program will find this book a treat just like my little one did.

As they grow older, or for kids who can write or are learning to write, they can also use this for copy work. They can look at a Quráan aayah which talks about each sentence or a hadeeth and Copywrite in the space provided.

The little kids who are learning the parts of speech or just learning to write can make their own sentences and practise parts of speech and writing sentences.

And finally, older kids can come up with their own writings, writing a small paragraph about the sentence linking it to the Lordship of Allaah.

The creativity has no end as this little book works for all primary level ages bringing you a great amount of benefit with simplicity.

Arabic sentences are included for Arabic reading and writing too. An additional bonus Inshaa Allaah. Please note the Arabic words for fruits and vegetable, tree and flower are in the singular form. Inshaa Allaah will try to correct them and upload. For now, you could use it as singular form inshaa Allaah.

Qamar Homeschool Serving the Community in New Jersey

      بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

We are absolutely delighted to partner with Qamar Homeschool in New Jersey in collaborating with them to provide our Nurture Islaam Pre Kinder Curriculum Pack and our other Nurture Islaam Series Products along with our Nurture Islaam Online Courses to benefit their community. Alhamdulillaah.

Qamar Homeschool is run by a family close to my heart. May Allaah preserve them.  Aameen. The team is headed by Umm Raafiq a dear sister who is close to me and who has joined me for all of my workshops and courses for mums and teachers. She comes with real-time experience of homeschooling her children who range from little ones to teens to grown-ups! Allaahumma Baarik.

And the most interesting part I love is that her teens and grown-up children are part of Qamar Homeschool team too. They are such lovely, well mannered and knowledgeable girls who are my students for the last four years. Alhamdulillaah.

Sister Umm Raafiq is well known in the masjid Rahmah community in New Jersey, USA, for her social services in the community. May Allaah accept from her and her family. Aameen. She has been working hard in cultivating her own children teaching them at home while also involving other children in the community whenever possible. We have collaborated with her for our Ramadhaan and Summer Workshops where she organized the live/recorded streaming of our courses for the New Jersey community. It was such a pleasure to have worked with her and the rest of the children.

Alhamdulillaah, going further she turned her basement into a lovely Homeschool with some stunning interior to welcome other children in the community who are looking for a safe and fun-filled learning environment upon the Qur'aan and the Sunnah as understood by our pious predecessors.

Look at this before and after images to see how much work has been gone into transforming the basement to an inviting knowledge base. Subhanallaah!

Qamar Homeschool is open to preschoolers and kindergartners from the community and it is a wonderful opportunity for the families in New Jersey to take advantage of. Qamar Homeschool uses our Nurture Islaam Pre Kinder Curriculum Pack for PreK and Kindergarten along with some exciting other beneficial resources.

They have also taken into consideration the beneficial tips, hacks and information imparted at our Homeschool/Teachers Workshops and courses to design their learning spaces. Don't they look so inviting and tempting!!! Allaahumma Baarik.

Such a cute reading corner with some interesting resources! Dramatic play area for little kids to have some hands-on experience with what they have learnt!

Such a colourful Mathematics work area, yet again focusing on many different learning styles where kids can freely explore numbers.

Islaamic studies integrated into all the secular subjects as that is the core of our Nurture Islaam Pre Kinder Curriculum Pack that Qamar Homeschool is using with the little ones.

Absolutely adorable Qur'aan Centre to learn the words of Allaah and implement. Such an inviting place.

Qamar Homeschool is also ready to enhance the much-needed technology skills from an early age with moderation and supervision.

And finally, what about these gorgeous cubbies and the motor-sensory learning spaces. They just look so wonderful.

And finally, have a look at this inviting learning space for the teens and preteens, which we hope would further benefit with older kids joining Qamar Homeschool for learning different skills and projects and also Qamar Homeschool would gradually open their doors for higher classes Inshaa Allaah. Currently, this is the learning space for Sister Umm Raafiq's own teen/preteen kids. Allaahumma Baarik.

If you are in or around New Jersey and if you are looking for similar learning set up for your kids then this is your destination to send your kids to gain some beneficial knowledge. The Qamar Homeschool children join me for my Pre Kinder Online Classes and they do so well for their age Allaahumma Baarik. We have witnessed their presentation and the learning environment via live video sessions and they do a fantastic job with the permission of Allaah.

Additionally, with the current situation, Qamar Homeschool is following guidelines to the best of their abilities, including mandatory testing, regular temperature scans, intense cleaning and sanitizing. May Allaah protect them and us. Aameen.

If you or anyone you know would like to reach out to Qamar Homeschool for inquiries or enrolment please contact Umm Raafiq at ummi.of4@gmail.com Inshaa Allaah.

May Allaah put barakah in this new venture and benefit the New Jersey community at large and accept it from all who are involved. Aameen.

Who is Allaah? - Online Course for Little Kids Ages 3 - 5

    بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Stemming from my last blog post "How to Teach Aqeedah to Little Children" we are pleased to offer yet another online course for the little kids.

Due to many sisters demanding a stress-free interactive course for the little ones where they will get exposed to authentic Aqeedah knowledge we decided to start with "Who is Allaah"?

This age group (3 to 5 years) is an interesting age group where kids are very receptive to learning, of course when it is engaging and interesting to them. However, I was reluctant to have online classes for this age group as I strongly believe that children this age should be cultivated by their parents with bonding and fruitful discussions.  Then we realised many parents are worried about imparting the correct aqeedah knowledge and are fearing that they may make mistakes while they try to explain concepts of Aqeedah to their kids. We understand this, therefore, we chose to offer these courses along with the mums, where mums enhance their skills of teaching the children.

Join us for the first course for this age group and enjoy the sessions with your little ones. We have only a few spaces left for the live sessions. However, you are welcome to sign up and complete at your own pace and timings. Details below.

    • Children will receive the Nurture Islaam Pre Kinder Series Book "Who is Allaah" along with other course materials. (All course materials are digital downloads).

How to Teach Aqeedah (Creed) to little Children?

    بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Alhamdulillaah, with many parents realising the importance of teaching children the Aqeedah or the Creed from an early age, I get questions from sisters how exactly they could teach this to their children without making them imagine things.

Aqeedah is the core of the religion of Islaam. Aqeedah is the foundation upon which the deen is built and by which actions of a Muslim become sound and correct.

Some of us may have the thought that this is such a complex concept and little children are unable to absorb and understand this concept at an early age. therefore it is best to wait till they grow and reach an age they are able to distinguish important criteria in order to explain Aqeedah to them.

This thought is natural because sadly,  many of us learnt the right Aqeedah when we were older.

However, children are like sponges, especially when they are young. And parents and teachers rush to give them every other knowledge in order to develop their language, motor and social skills from a very young age, and of course, put off Aqeedah for later.

My advice is to let the teaching of Aqeedah be the first thing that you teach your children. If that is the case, the next question is how exactly we should be teaching little children Aqeedah?

Yes I agree Aqeedah is not something you can do like teaching mathematics, language and science. We do have limitations as many of the aspects of the Aqeedah are from the unseen (Ghaib), and we have Islaamic restrictions and boundaries to adhere to.

So here are some simple tips and ways to consider teaching Aqeedah for little children.

Use the Books of the Scholars

Get your information from the works of our scholars. Subhanallaah we do not have to look elsewhere. They have left a legacy behind with authentic rich text and information. Invest in the books of the Ulama from the right publishers and authors.

They gave importance to Aqeedah and they taught just as the Prophet sallaahu alaihiwasallam taught his companions. When you use information from the correct authentic sources it becomes very easy to teach these aspects to your children. All you need to do is simplify it and feed in the information little at a time with some creativity as per age and ability. You cannot teach something you do not know. So it is best that you equip yourself with knowledge first.

Integrate Aqeedah into Academics and Day to Day Learning

Children learn well when they see relevance to their own lives and surroundings.  So the best way to teach Aqeedah is to INTEGRATE it into what they explore and learn every day. If you separate Aqeedah or Islaam from academics and their surroundings they will see no relevance to it and it would become something boring for them. If you expose them to learning other subjects with engaging resources and enthusiasm and leave off Aqeedah for other than that, they will not be keen to learn the Aqeedah.

NOTE: We covered an extensive workshop on how to integrate Aqeedah and Islaam into academics a year ago and you can see the details of the workshop here and sign up and benefit.

    Get the Right Resources

If you stick to the serious rich information the child will be receptive and imagination can be limited. This largely depends on your approach and the resources you use. So be mindful of choosing the correct resources. Check if the resources that you choose are from the right authors and right sources. Remember, Aqeedah is the core if you take this lightly and use anything and everything it will be really difficult to take out the wrong or incorrect information fed into little minds.
